I just got a peek at some first-look photos from the second season of Big Mood, and they look fantastic! For those who don’t know, it’s the Channel 4 comedy with Nicola Coughlan and Lydia West, and I’m really excited to see what they’ve got planned.
Created and written by Camilla Whitehill, the show delves into the complexities of mental health and the bonds of female friendship. It debuted in March 2024 and quickly became the network’s most successful new comedy launch since ‘Derry Girls’.
Season two of Big Mood starts with Maggie and Eddie reconnecting after a year apart. Eddie’s back for a wedding, and he’s brought a new companion with him – Whitney, a relentlessly optimistic spiritual healer who quickly gets under Maggie’s skin.
The show’s description hints that Maggie is worried her unpredictable personality won’t fit into Eddie’s more settled life, and she’s afraid they’ll grow apart.
A recently released image from Channel 4 shows Maggie and Eddie connecting well (pictured above). Another new image offers fans their first glimpse of the strained dynamic between the three characters after Whitney and Eddie join the group (pictured below).

Another image shows the new cast member, Kyran Thrax, performing a stunt, and a fourth picture features Maggie looking determined as she exits a vehicle.
Joining the cast are Nicola Coughlan, known for Bridgerton, and Callum Scott Howells, who starred in It’s a Sin. They’ll be alongside returning actors Robert Gilbert (Big Boys), Eamon Farren (The Witcher), Niamh Cusack (In the Land of Saints and Sinners), and Amalia Vitale (Smoggie Queens).

The returning cast includes Luke Fetherston as Ryan, Rebecca Lowman as Vanessa, Stephen Sobal as Owen, and Kate Fleetwood as Clara.

Joining the cast with Onslow and Thrax are Robert Lindsay, known from “My Family,” Marina Bye, who starred in “We Were the Lucky Ones,” and Marcus Collins, recognized for his work in the West End production of “Mrs. Doubtfire.”
The cast also includes Munroe Bergdorf, known for ‘Love and Rage,’ Kelly Campbell from ‘Bad Sisters,’ Leo Wan of ‘Bridgerton,’ Zachary Hart who appears in ‘Slow Horses,’ and John Locke from ‘Vindication Swim’.
