PlayStation Plus is a popular service that offers a rotating selection of games to subscribers each month. While new games are added regularly, Sony also removes older titles to make room. This means players need to check out games before they’re taken off the service. Recently, fans of Star Trek learned that a well-regarded game based on the series will soon be leaving PlayStation Plus.
If you’ve been enjoying Star Trek: Bridge Crew through PlayStation Plus, you’ll want to know it’s leaving the service soon. Sony announced that Bridge Crew, along with other games, will no longer be available on PS Plus starting December 2nd. Since Sony updates its PS Plus games on the first Tuesday of each month, you only have a limited time left to play Bridge Crew.
What is Star Trek: Bridge Crew?
Star Trek: Bridge Crew is a virtual reality game that puts you right into the action. However, to truly enjoy the experience, you’ll need a PlayStation VR headset, which can be a barrier for some. If you have a PSVR and friends to play with, it’s a fantastic game. You can play without one, but it won’t be nearly as immersive or enjoyable.
In Bridge Crew, up to four players can work together aboard the Starfleet ship USS Aegis. Each player takes on a specific role: captain, tactical officer, engineer, or helm officer. The captain is responsible for knowing the mission goals and communicating them to the rest of the crew. If you’re playing alone, you’ll control the captain.
Okay, so being captain is awesome, but everyone else on the bridge is super important too. As helm officer, I’m in charge of actually flying the ship – charting our course and handling the engines to get us where we need to go. The tactical officer is basically our weapons expert, but they also scan for enemies and anything interesting out there. And the engineer? They keep everything running smoothly, managing power and fixing things when they break. We really need all hands on deck to survive!
Playing Bridge Crew can get pretty intense! You and your friends will be shouting instructions, sharing coordinates, and generally trying to manage a spaceship together. Success depends on constant teamwork and clear communication. It’s definitely challenging, but overcoming a difficult mission with your friends is incredibly rewarding.
You can play Star Trek: Bridge Crew without a VR headset, but it’s much more immersive and enjoyable with one. Being able to physically look around the bridge really enhances the experience. It’s amazing to see information displayed as if it’s right in front of you, especially when your teammates are warning you about approaching enemies!

There’s good news for PlayStation Plus subscribers! While some games leave the service, PlayStation always adds new ones.
