With 2026 just around the corner, anime fans have a lot to look forward to! All the shows that came out in 2025 have already aired, and it was an amazing year with the return of popular series like Solo Leveling and Dandadan, plus exciting new shows such as Sakamoto Days and Witch Watch. 2026 has a high bar to meet, but the upcoming schedule suggests it will be an even better year for anime fans.
While it’s great to discover new anime, sequels to popular shows often generate more buzz because they already have dedicated fans. As 2025 comes to a close, be sure to check out these 10 anime series that will be continuing with new seasons next year.
10) Saga of Tanya the Evil II

I’m a huge fan of Saga of Tanya the Evil! It started as a light novel back in 2013, and I was so excited when they released a manga in 2016 and then an anime in 2017. What really grabbed me about this isekai series is its unique setting – it feels like World War I, but with magic! The military tactics are surprisingly realistic, and the action is just non-stop. The first anime season had 12 episodes, and then they released a movie in 2019. We’ve all been patiently waiting for season two, and finally, after over six years, it’s been confirmed it’s coming in 2026! We don’t have a specific date yet, but I’m already counting down the days!
9) My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2

Although everyone is talking about the final season of My Hero Academia this fall, its prequel series is also returning with new episodes in January. Based on a story by Hideyuki and artwork by Court Betten, the anime first aired in the spring of 2025. This series is set five years before the main story and focuses on a group of heroes-in-training who work to protect people without official licenses. The new season will follow their adventures as they face new villains, fight crime, and investigate a large-scale plot led by a familiar enemy.
8) Hell’s Paradise Season 2

The dark fantasy anime series will be back in January 2026, nearly three years after its first season ended. Although the original manga is finished, the anime still has plenty of story to tell. Based on Yuki Kaji’s manga, the series centers on Gabimaru, a highly skilled and deadly assassin from Iwagakure. To escape execution, he joins other condemned criminals on a quest to find a mythical elixir of life on a remote island. The second season will continue the story, adapting the lengthy Hōrai arc from the manga, which spans 51 chapters.
7) Fire Force Season 3 Part 2

The anime series Fire Force began its final season this spring, with the concluding episodes scheduled for release in Winter 2026. This brings to an end the story set in a unique post-apocalyptic world. The series follows Shinra Kusakabe and his team, Special Fire Force Company 8, as they investigate the frightening phenomenon of people bursting into flames. Over the course of the show, the mysteries surrounding these events and the truth about the world have been fully explained.
6) Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3

The third season of Jujutsu Kaisen is scheduled to premiere in January 2026, over a year after the manga finished. It will first cover the Extermination and Perfect Preparation arcs, then move on to the Culling Game arc. Following the intense events of Season 2’s Shibuya Incident, the new season will show what happens after that devastating battle. Viewers will also discover the true motives of Kenjaku, the one responsible for creating the deadly Culling Game, a fight to the death between sorcerers.
5) Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity

Over a decade after the first anime series finished, Bleach is back with a new season covering the last part of the manga story. The final installment of the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc is scheduled for release in 2026, bringing the intense conflict between the Soul Reapers and the Quincies to a close. This anime adaptation aims to provide a more satisfying conclusion than the manga’s ending, which many fans found rushed and incomplete, largely due to the author, Tite Kubo, experiencing health issues while working under a demanding weekly deadline.
4) Dr. Stone: Science Future Part 3

I’m a huge fan of Dr. Stone, and I just learned that the anime will be wrapping up in 2026 with the third part of its final season – just like Fire Force and Bleach! The story is set thousands of years in the future, after a mysterious event turns everyone to stone. It follows Senku Ishigami, who’s determined to rebuild civilization from scratch. As we head towards the finale, Senku and his Kingdom of Science are pushing through every challenge to bring back modern life. They’ve worked so hard over the years and are closer than ever to saving the world, with just one final goal: to make sure no one ever gets turned to stone again!
3) Black Clover Season 2

After a four-year hiatus, the anime Black Clover is coming back, just as the manga nears its conclusion. The new season is expected to launch around the time the manga finishes and will continue the exciting Spade Kingdom Arc – often considered the best part of the series. This arc features a major battle between the Magic Knights, mages from the Heart Kingdom, and the powerful Dark Triad, and it’s the second-to-last story arc in the entire series. A specific release date hasn’t been announced yet.
2) The Apothecary Diaries Season 3

Season 2 of The Apothecary Diaries finished in July, and an anime sequel was announced with a short teaser. More details came in October, revealing that Season 3 will be split into two parts. The first part is scheduled to premiere in October 2026, likely in early to mid-October, and the second part will arrive in Spring 2027. A movie is also planned, featuring a brand new story written by the author of the original novels, Natsu Hyuuga. It’s expected to be released in Japanese theaters in December of next year, but a global release date hasn’t been announced yet.
1) Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2

I’m so excited for the second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End! It’s coming out on January 16th, 2025, and will follow Frieren and her friends as they continue their journey to Aureole. She’s hoping to connect with Himmel’s soul and learn more about him, which I think will be really touching. The season will kick off with the ‘Continued Northern Travels’ arc from the manga, and while we don’t know exactly how many arcs they’ll cover yet, it sounds like we can definitely look forward to seeing the ‘Divine Revolte’ and ‘Golden Land’ arcs animated too! I can’t wait!
