Today in ‘Not on the Bingo Card’, it’s been announced that Hideo Kojima has a cameo in Zootopia 2.
In the Japanese release of Disney’s latest Zootopia movie, the game designer and director voices the character of Paul Moldebrandt, a mole detective with the Zootopia Police Department.
Famitsu reports that Jared Bush, the director of the film, personally offered Kojima a minor role in it.
While Hideo Kojima has acted before, he’s sharing that this marks his debut voice performance in an animated movie.
Even though I only had a small part, I was struck by the incredible detail put into the recording process. The illustrations were a big help and made everything run smoothly. I’m normally the director, so it was a valuable experience to be on the acting side. It really highlighted how much thought and effort voice actors put into even the smallest things, like handling the script and creating realistic sounds.
The new animated film, Zootopia 2 (known as Zootropolis 2 in certain countries), has broken box office records with an opening weekend of $556 million worldwide. This makes it the highest-grossing opening ever for an animated movie, and the fourth highest of all time. Simply put, it’s a huge success.
Are you excited about Zootopia 2? If so, will you be checking out the Japanese version to hear Hideo Kojima’s voice acting? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
