Learning a fighting game can be really rewarding, but sometimes you just want to skip the strategy and have fun with flashy moves and cool animations.
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising has been out for nearly two years, but the developers, Cygames and Arc System Works, just released a significant update designed to attract new players.
A new update, patch 2.40, is now available for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 to mark the game’s second anniversary. It includes two new control options, playfully named ‘Smart’ and ‘Super Ultimate’.
The ‘Smart’ system simplifies combos by automatically continuing attacks if you press a button after a successful hit, but otherwise the controls remain the same. As you get better at the game, you can still add special moves and super attacks into your combos whenever you like.
The ‘Super Ultimate’ mode is designed for players who want a fully automated experience. Simply hold down one button to unleash attacks and combos, and the game will automatically handle your defense unless you’re actively inputting commands.
The latter’s only available in offline modes, however.
If you’re curious about how Rising controls work, you can try the free version to see if you like it.
For the next few days, until December 4th, all characters will be playable. Usually, characters are gradually added and removed each week.
We highly recommend checking out Rising! It’s a fantastic-looking fighting game with plenty to offer both solo players and those who enjoy online battles.
Curious about the new ways to play in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising? And please, let’s keep the combo discussions respectful in the comments!
