The first downloadable content for Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be available on December 10th. Before its release, Pokemon is previewing some exciting Mega Evolutions. We’ve already seen Mega Zeraora and Mega Lucario Z, and now a new Mystery Gift will add two more Mega forms to the game before you can experience them in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
At the end of the Mega Lucario Z reveal trailer, Pokémon announced a new Mystery Gift for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This gift will allow players to catch Mewtwo for the first time in the game, and it also includes both Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y. These items are essential to begin the Mewtwo capture mission and will enable players to evolve Mewtwo into either of its Mega Evolutions. Here are the details.
How to Get Mega Mewtwo X and Y in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Trainers can now catch Mewtwo in Pokemon Legends: Z-A as of December 2nd. Like with Mega Diancie, you’ll first need to redeem a Mystery Gift and finish a side quest before Mewtwo will become available. Here’s a breakdown of the process.
To get Mewtwonite X and Y as a Mystery Gift, you first need to finish the main story of Pokemon Legends: Z-A – meaning you have to reach the end credits. After completing the story, you’ll be able to claim the Mewtwo Mystery Gift.
Okay, so to get these special gifts, you first need to head into the main menu of Legends: Z-A. Then, choose “Link Play” and make sure your Switch is connected to the internet. Next, select “Mystery Gift” and then “Get via Internet”. A list of available gifts will pop up, and you’re looking for one called “Project M” – that’s where the Mewtwonite X and Y are! Just click on it to claim your Mega Stones and you’re all set!
Once you have 1 Mewtwonite X and 1 Mewtwonite Y, a new side mission called ‘Project M’ will become available in your game. To start it, go to Lysandre Cafe and then enter Lysandre Labs. Take the elevator down to floor B3F and walk straight into the main area to begin the mission.
After completing this step, a cutscene will begin, giving you a chance to catch Mewtwo. Mabel will advise you that you need to actually catch Mewtwo, not just defeat it in battle – it won’t be easy, just like catching Diancie. If you succeed, you can use Mega Stones to evolve Mewtwo into either of its Mega Evolutions.
Starting December 2nd, players of Pokemon Legends: Z-A can receive the Mega Mewtwo Mystery Gift. Currently, there’s no information on when this gift will no longer be available.
