Well, good riddance to this year! We’re all eagerly awaiting games like Resident Evil Requiem, Grand Theft Auto 6, and Reanimal. But before 2025 is over, there are still 15 new games coming out in December. Expect the usual mix of sequels, games that have been in development for a while, and, thankfully, a fun beat ’em up. Let’s jump right into what’s coming up, starting with…
Octopath Traveler 0
Octopath Traveler 0 introduces fresh features to the series, like building up towns and creating your own characters, as seen in Champions of the Continent. This isn’t just a port of the mobile game, though – the developers, DokiDoki Groove Works, are adding 30 to 40 percent new content, and the main story is expected to take around 100 hours to complete. It’s a huge RPG, and if you’re looking for a massive game to play before the end of the year, Octopath Traveler 0 might be a good choice when it releases on December 4th.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion
Imagine the Annihilation Wave arriving on Earth and colliding with a team of Marvel’s mightiest heroes – the Avengers, X-Men, Spider-Man, and even the Cosmic Ghost Rider! We’re about to find out just how tough Annihilus is when he faces off against fifteen different heroes and anti-heroes. But Marvel Cosmic Invasion is more than just a button-mashing brawl. It also includes a unique “Cosmic Swap” system, letting you quickly switch between heroes to create powerful combo attacks. December 1st – the game’s release date – can’t come soon enough!
Routine
Routine is an unusual survival horror game with a long and complicated development history. It was first announced in 2012, faced numerous delays, was even put on hold, and then picked back up nearly ten years later. The game puts you in the role of an astronaut trying to survive in a decaying lunar base, dodging deadly robots with the constant risk of permanent death. With so many excellent horror games released this year, the question is whether Routine will be able to stand out from the crowd. We’ll have our answer on December 4th.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
2025 is shaping up to be a huge year for gamers, with many long-awaited titles finally launching. We’re especially excited about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, despite some recent attention on its developer, Myles MacKenzie. The game, releasing December 4th, promises a brand-new planet to explore, fresh abilities, intricate environments, and even a bike for speeding across large areas.
Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow

Okay, so another Thief game didn’t immediately thrill me after the reboot, but Legacy of Shadow actually sounds pretty cool because it’s in VR! I’m really excited about that. It’s coming out on December 4th for PC and PlayStation VR2, and you play as this character, Magpie, sneaking around The City and pulling off heists in first-person. From what I’ve heard, it’s got everything you’d expect from a Thief game – pickpocketing, lockpicking, different kinds of arrows, and multiple ways to tackle each mission. And get this – the original voice actor for Garrett is back too! That’s a nice touch.
Sleep Awake
I was pretty excited when Blumhouse Games announced Fear the Spotlight, but their new game, Sleep Awake, which comes out December 2nd, sounds incredible! The premise is that the world is basically destroyed except for one last city, and this creepy force called the Hush takes people while they’re sleeping. So, you have to stay awake to survive? That sounds like my kind of game! Plus, the music is being done by Robin Finck from Nine Inch Nails – I’m already hooked!
Red Dead Redemption (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2)
Okay, so I’ve actually played this game a couple of times already, and I’m guessing some of you have too! Rockstar keeps re-releasing Red Dead Redemption – this is the third time in just a few years. It’s a classic, honestly one of the best games ever made, and this version looks amazing on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S with 4K resolution and smooth 60 frames per second, plus HDR. If you’re on the new Switch 2, you even get mouse support! It’s coming out on December 4th, and fingers crossed this is the final release for this generation of consoles.
Skate Story
Being made of glass isn’t ideal, so when a chance to escape the desolate Emptylands by skateboarding and destroying the Moon presents itself, why hesitate? That’s the premise of Skate Story by Sam Eng, a unique game filled with skateboarding tricks, challenging boss battles, and captivating music. Players can learn and perfect every trick, personalize their skateboard, assist the quirky characters they meet, or simply enjoy the game’s immersive world when it releases on December 8th.
Terminator 2D: No Fate

After a couple of setbacks, it looks like Terminator 2D: No Fate is finally releasing on December 12th! This side-scrolling action game lets you play through iconic scenes from the movie as Sarah, John Connor, or the T-100. You can even make choices that change the story and lead to different endings. The game boasts impressive graphics and multiple game modes, and hopefully, this release date will stick!
Elden Ring Nightreign – The Forsaken Hollows
The world of Limveld returns in the latest update for Nightreign, where players will confront a powerful new enemy called the Dreglord. Fans are speculating about connections to the Dark Souls series, but the update primarily introduces two new bosses for Day 3 – one appears to be a challenging multi-stage fight against seven opponents – along with two new playable classes and a new gameplay mechanic called Shifting Earth. It launches on December 4th and will cost $15.
Cloudheim
Don’t be misled by the game’s art style, which is similar to Breath of the Wild. Cloudheim, launching into Steam Early Access on December 4th, is a post-apocalyptic fantasy adventure for up to four players. While you can craft items and run shops, the game primarily focuses on exploration, combat, and challenging boss battles.
Pioneers of Pagonia 1.0
After almost two years in early access, Pioneers of Pagonia will officially launch on December 11th. The game has received many updates over that time, including improvements to its economy, new buildings, better graphics, and general quality of life fixes. The 1.0 release will also add a complete story campaign. With a “Very Positive” rating on Steam and a relatively quiet year for city-building games, Pioneers of Pagonia could be worth checking out.
UNBEATABLE
Get ready to rebel against the system with UNBEATABLE, a fast-paced, rhythm-based action game! You’ll run, jump, and battle cops, all while performing concerts and completing fun mini-games. If you just want pure action, there’s a dedicated Arcade Mode packed with challenges and rewards. UNBEATABLE arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on December 9th.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 24

The initial release of Microsoft Flight Simulator wasn’t perfect, but it’s significantly improved with several updates. Now available on PS5 as of December 8th, the game features a wide variety of aircraft, a huge world to explore, a complete Career Mode, and enhancements like a detailed flight planner.
Ferocious
Look, as a long-time Dino Crisis fan, I’ve been hoping for a proper sequel forever. This new game, Ferocious, isn’t quite that, or even a spiritual successor, really. But here’s the cool part: you don’t just fight dinosaurs on this dangerous island with other mercenaries, you actually control them! It’s a little weird, I’ll admit, but sending raptors to take out enemies is seriously awesome. Beyond that, Ferocious has a ton going on – first-person shooting, crafting weapons, and a whole survival element – so I’m definitely intrigued to see how it plays when it comes out on December 4th.
