Elden Ring Nightreign is likely a new game set in the Elden Ring universe, and like the original, it’s filled with dangerous creatures. While exploring the lands of Limveld, you’ll encounter different enemies, and some are more desirable than others because defeating them rewards you with valuable items that help you strengthen your character and progress against the Nightlord you’re battling.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is full of challenging enemies, some of which can defeat you instantly. After gathering data from players, Bandai Namco has identified the field boss that’s causing the most problems for the community.
Elden Ring Nightreign Stats Reveal Hardest Field Boss

Bandai Namco recently shared some player data from the game, including popular character skins and how often players help each other out. But the most interesting stat? The Royal Carian Knight has defeated players more times than any other boss, according to FromSoftware and Bandai Namco.
Okay, so it totally makes sense why this character is so high up – it hits hard, has some really powerful spells, and can move around quickly. But honestly, the rest of this ranking is throwing me for a loop! I get why the Draconic Tree Sentinel is number two, considering how much trouble it gave people in the original Elden Ring, but putting the Erdtree Avatar at number three just seems…weird.
It’s surprising that the Bell Bearing Hunter, a famously difficult enemy when the game first came out, isn’t even among the toughest challenges. Surprisingly, it’s only slightly harder than the Pot Troll, which is relatively easy to defeat by simply attacking its legs. It seems like its accurate attacks are proving more troublesome for players than I initially thought.
Rounding out the list are Black Blade Kindred, the Death Rite Bird, and the Ulcerated Tree Spirit – I was a little surprised to see them ranked lower than the Pot Troll, but the data is what it is. Plus, with new content coming soon, the Royal Carian Knight might not stay in this spot for long. Honestly, Shadow of the Erdtree has really left its mark on me.
