The anime film Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has become the highest-grossing anime movie ever made, earning a massive amount of money in theaters. Although a release date for streaming hasn’t been announced yet, fans are still enjoying the Demon Slayer series after the manga concluded. There are currently no plans for a continuation or spin-off of the story about the Hashira, but the creator, Koyoharu Gotouge, has mentioned the possibility of returning to manga in the future. While a direct Demon Slayer sequel isn’t confirmed, Gotouge has ideas for a completely new story.
The manga series Demon Slayer concluded in 2020, finishing the story of Tanjiro and his friends as they battled the demon lord Muzan. In 2021, artist Koyoharu Gotouge, who created Demon Slayer, shared her ideas for future projects in the second official fanbook. She mentioned wanting to create a funny science fiction romantic comedy next, saying she wanted to make people laugh a lot – she’s a fan of classic alien movies! Since the end of the Demon Slayer story, Gotouge hasn’t released any new manga, leaving fans curious about whether she’ll return to the medium.
Demon Slayer’s Silver Screen Future

After the first part of the Demon Slayer trilogy’s conclusion was released, fans have been eagerly awaiting news about the next movie. The ending of Infinity Castle left many shonen fans anxious to find out when the second film will arrive. In the movie, Tanjiro successfully defeated the powerful demon Akaza, avenging the death of Rengoku from Demon Slayer: Mugen Train. While Zenitsu also won his battle against a known demon, not all of the Hashira were so fortunate. Shinobu tragically lost her life in her fight against Doma, but one member of the Corps remains determined to avenge the Insect Hashira.
Making a sequel to Demon Slayer would be challenging, given how conclusive the manga’s ending was. While series like One Piece and Dragon Ball have run for many years, Demon Slayer thoroughly explored its characters, including the Hashira, in just over four years. Even though Infinity Castle was a huge anime hit, it’s likely the next two movies in the series will be even more popular as fans anticipate the end of the Demon Slayer Corps’ story.
