I absolutely love Space Dandy! It’s just wonderfully silly from beginning to end, and the animation is gorgeous – every crazy thing that happens looks amazing. While Shinichiro Watanabe has done a lot of incredible work, I honestly think Space Dandy is one of his very best. It’s always a blast to watch, no matter how bizarre it gets!

4) Outlaw Star

The anime Outlaw Star follows Gene Starwind, a young man who unexpectedly gains control of the Outlaw Star, an incredibly powerful spaceship. He and a constantly shifting team of companions then embark on a galactic quest to find the legendary Galactic Leyline – a vast treasure – hoping to discover it before their rivals do.

Despite often being overshadowed by Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star remains a highly enjoyable anime thanks to its exciting action and fresh approach to the space western genre, even decades after its release. It’s all brought to life by a fantastic voice cast, making it one of the best sci-fi comedies any anime fan could hope for.

2) Time Patrol Bon

In the anime Time Patrol Bon from Bones Film, Bon Namihira stumbles upon the Time Patrol, a group that travels through history to save people. They initially plan to erase his memory to protect the timeline, but realize he’s unexpectedly crucial to their mission. Instead of erasing him, they recruit Bon as their newest agent, pairing him with experienced agent Ream Stream.

Even though Time Patrol Bon has a charming art style reminiscent of Doraemon creator Fujiko F. Fujio, it’s a surprisingly intense story. It doesn’t shy away from violence and explores the dramatic possibilities of time travel. However, strong writing and a good pace keep it enjoyable, and it deserves a wider audience.

The anime Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction is set three years after a UFO appears over Tokyo. Although it seems like the world might be ending, the story mainly follows Kadode and Oran as they navigate everyday life and its challenges.
