Netflix’s Scooby-Doo Series Gets Exciting Release Date Update

Good news for fans of Scooby-Doo! Netflix’s upcoming live-action series is now expected to debut in 2027. Filming is scheduled to begin in 2026, and the latest news has generated a lot of buzz.

Netflix’s live-action Scooby-Doo series could get a 2027 release date

According to What’s on Netflix, the upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo series is currently aiming for a 2027 release. Filming is scheduled to begin in Atlanta in April 2026 and last through June. After filming, the show will need to go through post-production, meaning a 2027 launch is the most likely timeframe, though Netflix hasn’t officially announced a premiere date yet.

Netflix confirmed the Scooby-Doo live-action series in March 2025, almost a year after rumors first surfaced. While Scooby-Doo has been a beloved cartoon since the late 1960s, this marks the first time the franchise will be adapted into a live-action TV show. Previously, there were only two live-action movies released in the early 2000s, which received a mixed reception at first but have since become popular with fans.

This project is a collaboration with Warner Bros. Television. Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg are the showrunners and writers, heading up the creative direction through their production company, Midnight Radio. They’re joined by executive producers André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, Sarah Schechter, and Greg Berlanti.

This eight-episode season is set during the gang’s final summer at camp. While there, Shaggy and Daphne discover a lost Great Dane puppy, which leads them to a puzzling mystery. As they begin to solve it, they meet Velma, a down-to-earth local, and Freddy, a newcomer who joins their team as the investigation progresses.

Netflix has not provided additional release details.
