MIO: Memories in Orbit adds Switch 2 version, launches January 20, 2026

The sci-fi Metroidvania game MIO: Memories in Orbit is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC (via Steam and the Microsoft Store) on January 20, 2025. Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Douze Dixiemes recently announced a version for the Switch 2, but plans for previously announced versions on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the original Switch have been dropped.

Here is an overview of the game and demo, via Focus Entertainment:

A Mesmerizing Journey Across Danger and Wonder

You play as MIO, a quick and agile robot who wakes up on a massive, broken spaceship called the Vessel. It used to be looked after by helpful AI called the Pearls, but now it’s filled with overgrown plants and broken robots. The ship is about to shut down completely, so MIO needs to explore its complicated levels, piece together lost memories, and discover what caused the disaster—and also learn about their own forgotten history.

The new trailer for MIO: Memories In Orbit highlights how the game seamlessly blends platforming and combat using a versatile multi-tool. The trailer creates a beautiful, atmospheric experience, featuring intriguing story hints and drawing inspiration from science fiction, comics, anime, paintings, lo-fi music, and choral arrangements.

Start the Journey Now With a Playable Demo

I got to try out the demo for MIO: Memories In Orbit, and it was awesome! It took me about two or three hours to play through the beginning of the game. There’s even a hidden area to find and a really tough challenge to beat. It’s a cool action-platformer where you’re constantly using a grappling hook, gliding, and sticking to walls to get around. The big question is: can you save the Vessel before it’s destroyed?
