On December 17th, the free-to-play arena shooter Splitgate will be back with a new name: SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded. Developer 1047 Games announced the relaunch will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store.
I’m so excited! 1047 Games just announced they’re releasing a mini-documentary on December 9th. It’s going to show how the next part of the game came together, and how much they care about arena shooters. They’ve really been listening to what the community wants, and it’s awesome to see that reflected in the development process.
According to 1047 Games design director Josh Watson, Splitgate was created as a tribute to the classic arena shooters many players enjoyed in their youth. The team has been completely rebuilding the game, using the best elements from both Splitgate 1 and Splitgate 2, improving what worked well, and eliminating what didn’t.
After Splitgate 2 launched in early 2025, 1047 Games brought on Watson, who had previously led game development for Rocket League.
1047 Games CEO Ian Proulx explained that player feedback was key to the game’s success, highlighting how regular public playtests and openly sharing results with the community helped shape the final product.

Okay, so Splitgate: Arena Reloaded basically takes everything awesome from both the original Splitgate and Splitgate 2 and smashes them together. It’s got that old-school arena shooter vibe I really love, and the best part? It’s free to play!
