Jujutsu Kaisen: 10 Most Powerful Domain Expansions Ranked

Be warned: This article reveals major plot points from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga! Jujutsu Kaisen features a detailed power system that’s showcased in its exciting battles. Every character has unique abilities, but they all operate within established rules. While everyone possesses cursed energy, only a select few have special, innate techniques. Even rarer is the ability to use Domain Expansion – widely considered the most powerful technique in the series. Domain Expansion is the peak of Jujutsu sorcery and is said to be an unavoidable attack with fatal consequences.

I’m totally fascinated by Domain Expansions! It’s amazing how powerful they are, but even the strongest technique can be overcome by someone even stronger, so it really comes down to the user’s overall power. But here’s the thing – just being strong doesn’t guarantee you can create one. Take Nanami, for example – he was a Grade 1 sorcerer, incredibly skilled, but never unlocked a Domain. It’s wild to think that Megumi, a Grade 2, could actually use one, even if it wasn’t fully formed! And the coolest part is that each sorcerer’s Domain is totally unique, and it’s all connected to their specific cursed technique. It’s like a perfect extension of who they are as a fighter.

10) Yorozu’s Threefold Affliction

Yorozu, a powerful and ancient sorcerer, demonstrated the skill expected of Jujutsu’s golden age with her unique domain expansion. This ability created an empty space filled with floating, organic shapes. By using her technique, Construction, she could create her ultimate attack, True Sphere. Sadly, Yorozu never fully showed her potential because her opponent was Sukuna, the incredibly powerful King of Curses.

9) Hiromi Higuruma’s Deadly Sentencing

Hiromi’s special ability, unlike others, automatically activates with his core technique, making it a non-fatal power. It works by summoning a spirit named Judgeman, who acts as a judge, evaluating the target’s past deeds. If the target is found guilty, Judgeman delivers a fitting punishment, often by stripping them of their abilities or resources, effectively weakening them.

8) Kinji Hakari’s Idle Death Gamble

Hakari’s domain traps opponents in a gamble for a massive, temporary boost of cursed energy. Once activated, it triggers a slot machine with random outcomes, potentially granting him brief immortality and unlimited energy to heal from any wound. He successfully used this domain against Kashimo, securing his win.

7) Dagon’s Horizon of the Captivating Skandha

Dagon’s domain is a breathtaking but dangerous place – no one trapped inside would have survived without Toji Fushiguro’s intervention. He unleashed it during the Shibuya Incident after gaining immense power by taking lives. The domain manifests as a gorgeous tropical beach, but it’s filled with countless shikigami – spirits that appear as fish and sea creatures – which relentlessly attack opponents, offering them no escape.

6) Jogo’s Coffin of the Iron Mountain

While often compared to Satoru Gojo and Ryomen Sukuna, Jogo is an incredibly powerful character in his own right. His Domain Expansion is devastating – instantly burning any normal sorcerer who enters it. It creates a volcanic landscape where Jogo can use his fire abilities and manipulate the terrain to guarantee a hit. Despite its power, Jogo’s domain was ultimately overcome by Gojo’s Unlimited Void.

5) Mahito’s Self-Embodiment of Perfection

Mahito is incredibly difficult to defeat even without using his most powerful ability. However, his Domain Expansion gives him a significant edge in battle. It allows him to instantly alter an opponent’s soul without needing physical contact – a key requirement for his technique. He first developed this ability while fighting Yuji Itadori and Nanami, and later refined it during his battle with Mechamaru in the second season.

4) Kenjaku’s Womb Profusion

Kenjaku is a powerful, ancient curse user with a vast array of abilities. He further boosts his strength using a special technique called Domain Expansion. Unlike most Domain Expansions which have a vulnerable outer layer, Kenjaku’s has none. Instead, it manifests as a massive pillar of cursed energy, designed to instantly defeat opponents with overwhelming force. He’s only used this technique once, during his battle with the high-level sorcerer Yuki Tsukumo.

3) Yuta Okkotsu’s Authentic Mutual Love

Yuta is an incredibly powerful sorcerer, second only to Gojo, and he mastered Domain Expansion remarkably quickly – in under a year. Though his domain was initially disrupted during the Culling Game, his battle against Sukuna revealed the full extent of his abilities. His domain is packed with a limitless number of swords, each possessing a different power Yuta has learned from others. This allows him to unleash a vast range of techniques on his enemies without any restrictions.

2) Satoru Gojo’s Unlimited Void

Gojo is exceptionally powerful, proven by his ability to fight Ryomen Sukuna on equal footing and withstand multiple clashes of their powerful techniques. He can trap opponents in an overwhelming void, flooding their senses with endless, confusing information that cuts off their sight, hearing, and even their thoughts. This leaves them helpless, allowing Gojo to easily defeat them with his skills and physical strength.

1) Ryomen Sukuna’s Malevolent Shrine

Sukuna, known as the King of Curses and the originator of Domain Expansion, is unbeatable within his own domain. His technique, Malevolent Shrine, continuously attacks anything with cursed energy using incredibly powerful slashes. The domain manifests as a frightening Buddhist shrine decorated with skulls. Sukuna amplifies this ability with a binding vow, letting him expand the domain to a massive 200-meter radius without needing a traditional barrier.
