Nobody’s perfect, but Miley Cyrus is pretty close when it comes to playing Hannah Montana.
With the popular Disney show celebrating its 20th anniversary in March 2026, Miley recently discussed whether it might be brought back for a new season.
When asked by Billboard on December 3rd about the possibility of recasting her role for a reboot, Miley said, “I’m not sure there could be a new Hannah. This is the one and only Hannah.”
Trust, Miley is going to put on her old blue jeans and pump up the party for the 20th anniversary.
It’s amazing to look back and see how much both I and my fans have grown up together, because it’s unusual for an artist to share that journey with the same audience. When I started performing, I’d see teenagers in the crowd, and now I see adults. I want to celebrate how long we’ve been connected and the relationship we’ve built over the years.
The 33-year-old singer, recognized last year with a Disney Legend award for her significant contributions, recently announced her engagement to Maxx Morando. She spoke about the lasting appeal of her dual identity as a pop star.
She explained that Hannah Montana evolved from a fictional story into her actual life. The show started as a story about a normal girl living an amazing double life, but then her own life became extraordinary because of who she truly was. Celebrating the show’s 20th anniversary feels significant because of that journey.
Miley recently told Good Morning America on December 2nd that she’s spending a lot of time preparing for the show’s 20th anniversary celebration.
Miley wondered how to best recognize Hannah during what was meant to be a joyful occasion for everyone. She added that she was really looking forward to celebrating with her.
After her time on Disney ended in 2011, Miley initially tried to distance herself from the pop star persona she created with her blonde wig. However, she’s recently embraced that part of her identity and is now comfortable revisiting it.
In a heartfelt Instagram post celebrating the show’s 15th anniversary, Miley described her character as a force that launched her to success, but left her forever changed. She expressed deep love and gratitude, saying it was a privilege to play the role for six years.
Miley emphasized, “You have all my loyalty and deepest appreciation until the end.”
