NCIS: Origins Season 2 Casts Fed Five Task Force Members

Season 2 of NCIS: Origins has assembled the complete Fed Five team, according to a recent cast announcement. This NCIS prequel explores the beginning of Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ career in the early 1990s, showing him working with a unique team and learning from Mike Franks. Mark Harmon, a familiar face from the NCIS franchise, provides narration, while Austin Stowell stars as a young Gibbs.

The new series will also feature some returning characters from the original NCIS. Recently, it was revealed that Shea Buckner, who appeared in season 5 of Only Murders in the Building, will take on the role of Dwayne Pride – a character previously played by Scott Bakula. Two more well-known actors will also be joining the cast.

According to Deadline, Adam Kulbersh (known for roles in Law & Order: SVU and Modern Family) and Mark Deklin (Blue Bloods, Glamorous) will join the cast as special agents. Kulbersh will play Felix Betts, an auditor from the Los Angeles office brought in to assist a new task force in Pendleton, while Deklin will portray Dan McLane. The role of Betts was previously played by Stuart Margolin in an episode of NCIS season 11.

McLane, a respected and experienced field agent based in Panama, is brought in to help the team at Camp Pendleton lead an operation to shut down a group stealing weapons.

These casting announcements are being made before the upcoming episode 11 of NCIS season 2, titled “Feelin’ Alright.” The episode will feature a younger version of Pride as a new Special Agent working in Panama, and will explore his early relationship with Gibbs. They’ll have to overcome past conflicts while working together undercover on a case. The episode is scheduled to air next year.

As a big NCIS fan, I remember when the ‘Fed Five’ story first popped up. It was during a two-part episode in season 11, called ‘Crescent City’. What’s really interesting is that this arc wasn’t just a regular episode – it cleverly served as a way to introduce NCIS: New Orleans and its lead character, Dwayne Pride. The story itself revolved around figuring out who killed McLane, who used to be a special agent and was leading the Fed Five at the time.

The story arc thoroughly explored how the team worked together, their leadership styles, and the challenging cases that defined their place in the NCIS world. Given that NCIS: Origins is set in the early 1990s, the timing works well, as the task force broke up in 1994.
