Margot Robbie wants to shield her family from the birds of prey.
More than a year after welcoming her son with husband Tom Ackerly, the Suicide Squad actress shared her reasons for keeping their young child private.
Margot, 35, recently told British Vogue she’s intentionally keeping details about her son’s life private to protect him. She explained that she used to be more open in interviews earlier in her career, but she’s learned to be more cautious after repeatedly being misquoted or having her words taken out of context. She often sees false statements attributed to her in the media, presented as direct quotes.
The Barbie alum then reflected on the first time a newspaper misquoted her 10 years ago.
“I just couldn’t understand it,” she remembered. “I kept thinking, ‘They just invented that?’ I felt helpless—like I couldn’t do anything to fix it. I simply had to come to terms with it.”
Even though Margot was getting better at dealing with difficult situations, she realized she needed to prioritize her mental well-being and set boundaries for the future.
She explained that people often feel like they want to make changes as they get older, especially when moving from their twenties into their thirties. They start setting new personal limits and deciding what they will and won’t accept.
Margot has consistently protected her personal life throughout her career. Since becoming a mother last November, she’s only spoken about it publicly once. The actress says she’s happily embracing this new phase of her life.
She told Entertainment Tonight in August that it’s fantastic. She explained it’s a funny show, and parents immediately understand why. If someone doesn’t get it, she added, it’s likely just not very interesting to them.

Margot has recently been more open about how she and her husband, Tom, 35, have managed to build successful careers while supporting each other. They’ve collaborated on several of her well-known films, like Barbie and I, Tonya, through their production company, LuckyChap Entertainment.
She told TopMob News last January how fortunate she felt. She explained that he prefers working behind the scenes and isn’t bothered by the attention.

Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley met while working on the film Suite Française. They later started a production company together called LuckyChap Entertainment, along with their friends Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr.
The business partners shared a three-bedroom house in Clapham, London, with five other people.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen it happen so many times! It’s sweet how sometimes, friendships just naturally blossom into something more, especially when you’re spending a lot of time together – like these two, an actress and a third assistant director who went from being friends to a couple while working closely on set.
She explained in a 2018 interview with Elle that they initially kept their relationship quiet because they didn’t think it would become serious. They’d tell people, ‘It’s nothing, we’re just friends,’ but eventually, the news got out.
The couple confirmed their romance during a PDA-outing to a New York Rangers game in February 2015.

Robbie admitted she had always been in love with Ackerley, and at first believed he didn’t feel the same way. She considered him to be very attractive.
I used to be completely happy being single and the thought of a relationship actually made me feel sick,” she shared with Vogue. “Then, unexpectedly, this happened. We’d been friends for ages, and I realized I’d always been in love with him. I kept it to myself, thinking he wouldn’t feel the same way and I didn’t want to ruin our friendship. But then we got together, and it just felt right – like everything finally clicked into place in a way nothing ever had before.”

The longtime couple tied the knot during a private ceremony in Australia’s Byron Bay.
Robbie playfully hinted at her wedding with a t-shirt that said “Say I Do Down Under,” and then confirmed the news by showing off her wedding ring.

The producers of the Oscar-winning film I, Tonya postponed their honeymoon in order to finish filming the movie.
Oh my gosh, you guys, Robbie told Extra the sweetest thing! Apparently, they literally skipped their honeymoon to make this movie! Can you believe it?! He said there were times they were freezing in their car in Atlanta, just thinking, ‘We should be relaxing on a beach right now, enjoying our honeymoon!’ But they kept going because, honestly, they were chasing a dream, and I just love that about them! It’s so inspiring! I’m obsessed!

I was so thrilled to see Robbie at the world premiere of Barbie! She absolutely nailed her look – it was a gorgeous recreation of the iconic ‘Solo in the Spotlight’ Barbie from 1961. I spent the entire press tour with her, and it was amazing to witness all the excitement firsthand.

After a busy period promoting Barbie, the couple finally took a vacation together and were seen sharing a romantic kiss in the sea off Greece.

Although they generally prefer to keep their relationship private, Robbie recently spoke highly of her husband, calling him a ‘normal’ guy at the 2024 Critic’s Choice Awards.
Robbie shared with TopMob News’ Keltie Knight on the red carpet how fortunate he feels. He explained that his partner prefers working behind the scenes and isn’t bothered by the attention.

Oh my gosh, it was incredible! Seeing Ackerley at the Oscars, actually nominated! And he brought Robbie with him – my absolute favorite, who’s been nominated three times already! It was just… everything. I was practically screaming when I saw them together!
He told A Frame that it’s “amazing.” While it can be overwhelming, he described the experience as a real celebration of movies, and said being a part of it is a dream come true.
Barbie received eight nominations in total, including Best Picture.

The couple announced they were expecting in July 2024, and in November 2024, they welcomed a baby boy. They haven’t yet revealed the child’s name.
