The recent ‘Wake of the Water’ update overhauled base building in Enshrouded and added some truly beautiful places to build. You can now create long-term bases in stunning locations like calm ponds, waterfalls, desert oases, and large, pre-designed structures in the Veilwater Basin. Here are 15 of the best base locations centered around water, ranging from easy starting spots to more complex, late-game builds.
Beginner Base Locations
1. Springlands Fishing Dock
This location is ideal for a beginner’s base. It features a pre-built dock and a large, level building area that’s easy to reach. You’ll find it in the Springlands, nestled between Westcott and Ferndale, and just south of the Farmer’s Ancient Vault. It’s a peaceful, attractive spot – perfect for new players.

2. Vault of the Hunter Mini Retreat
Just west of the Ancient Vault of the Hunter, you’ll find a cozy spot with a pond and a small, pre-made cave perfect for setting up a base – just clear it out first! The nearby cliffs offer a nice view of the Low Meadow, and the area is relatively flat, making it easy to build in the early game. It’s located between the Ancient Vault and the Springlands Tower.

3. Southern Island Pond
This sizable pond in the south features a central island, making it a great spot for building a base with a coastal feel. You’ll find copper and clay nearby in the Revelwoods, and Fort Kelvin offers early-game building materials. There’s also a small, pre-built structure close by that you can turn into a fishing hut. You can locate it on the map just below the Alchemist Tower, near both Fort Kelvin and the Mistbury Catacombs.

Mid Game Base Locations
4. Revelwood Clifftop Waterfall
This stunning cliffside home in Revelwood Forest offers breathtaking views of the misty rivers below, complete with its own waterfall. While the land is a bit rough and hilly, building upwards provides incredible vistas. You can find it northeast of the Revelwood fast travel point.

5. Nomad Highlands Archway Lake
The recent water update significantly improved the Nomad Highlands, and this archway lake is a great example of those changes. It features a flat stone area built on top of large arches, with a lake flowing underneath and a bridge dividing the space. You can find this location close to the Blazing Rock trade outpost and the Pillars of Creation.

6. Nomad Highlands Plateau Pond
Just south of Umber Hollow, you’ll find a large pond with a spacious, flat area overlooking the water. It has a small dock and is conveniently located near Kindle Waste, making it easy to travel between biomes. This spot offers significantly more building space than many other bases of a similar level.

High Difficulty Base Locations
7. Kindle Waste Clifftop Oasis
This oasis is located in the desert, overlooking the Kindle Waste. The area is mostly flat and rich in resources like iron, sulfur, and lapis lazuli. Two stone towers are built directly into the landscape, and the view of the Albaneve Summits is stunning. You can find it close to the Kindle Waste Tower, near the edge of the map.

8. Wyvern Arena Dome
The Wyvern Arena is known for having a beautifully designed desert environment. Inside, you’ll find four decorated bedrooms, a functional bar that’s great for storage, and plenty of space to set up your crafting stations. Just outside the arena is a thriving oasis. You can find it west of the Kindle Waste fast travel point, close to the first iron ore deposits.

9. Marble Quarry Ice Lake
Okay, so the recent update really changed things in Albeneve! That frozen lake next to the Marble Quarry? It’s actually thawed out now, and it’s become an amazing spot to set up a base. There’s even a waterfall flowing right into it! Plus, the area around the lake is full of useful resources. You can find it near Camellia Lake Marble Quarry, just west of the Albaneve fast travel tower – I highly recommend checking it out!

Max Level Veil Water Bases
10. Fish Farm
Although it’s called Fish Farm, this building is actually quite beautiful, covered in climbing plants and even including a bedroom. With a little work to fix it up and some nice flooring, it can become a lovely home by the water. You can find it in Starfish Shores, which is in the northern part of Veilwater Basin.

11. Cliffside Temple Tower
Close to the Capybara Oasis, you’ll find a tall cliff that’s ideal for building a temple. A strong wind current nearby makes it easy to travel up and down quickly, and the cliff’s surface lets you create towers of any design you like.

12. Orville Village
Orville is a large, ready-made village featuring water wheels, gardens, and several decorated houses. If you claim enough land, you can develop it into a fully populated town. You can find it east of the Veilwater Basin Tower, and claiming the whole area might take up to two maximum claims.

13. Dewdrop Farm
Dewdrop Farm is a lovely farm on a hill, featuring a windmill and a spacious three-story house with a basement. It’s large enough to create your own little settlement and is conveniently located just north of the Veilwater Basin fast travel point.

14. Darkwater Tower
Near the entrance to Darkwater Gateway Outpost, you’ll find a charming stone tower that houses a Roman bathhouse. Surprisingly, it even has a working wave machine! This unique, pre-built structure offers beautiful views of the water and lots of space for customization. It’s located in the Dragondream Lake area, southeast of Lake Heartblood.

15. Capybara Oasis Base
Okay, so I’ve been checking out the new update, and honestly, the settlement area under Capybara Falls is gorgeous. It’s a really beautiful water build – you’ve got this awesome archway, a winding river path, and the waterfall just makes it look incredible. I’m planning on building my late-game base there, for sure. It’s easily my favorite spot so far!

Final Thoughts
The recent Wake of the Water update completely changed base building in Enshrouded, and it’s opened up a huge range of possibilities for creative builds. You can create everything from a cozy fishing spot in the Springlands to a large settlement in the challenging Veilwater Basin, or even a peaceful home with plenty of capybaras around – the world is full of stunning locations to choose from!
Each of these locations offers unique advantages for every kind of player. No matter where you choose to build, the greatest satisfaction comes from personalizing these beautiful places and making them your own.
