Kimora Lee Simmons had to sweeten the deal.
The model explained she had to make some extra concessions to convince her daughters, 25-year-old Ming and 23-year-old Aoki—whom she shares with her ex, Russell Simmons—to participate in the show Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane.
Kimora admitted to paying them off during an exclusive interview with TopMob News correspondent Will Marfuggi, but added with a laugh, “It’s definitely not something I should have done, or that anyone should do.”
To get her oldest son on board, the 50-year-old mother – who also has sons Kenzo (16, with ex Djimon Hounsou), Gary (15, with ex Tim Leissner), and Wolfe (10, adopted in 2020) – confessed she offered him things like a sports car and a professional wardrobe.
She explained with a touch of irony, “They really took advantage of the situation, and it ended up costing me more to put on the production. I paid my actresses more than anyone else – everyone else volunteered their time. As for me, I worked without pay just to cover the expenses.”
Kimora says her daughters, who were on her reality show Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane years ago, were hesitant at first, but are now enthusiastic about the new TopMob series. Since they still spend much of their time at home, she believes they’re happy to participate.
Kimora explained that while they’ve gone their separate ways and established their own lives, they haven’t fully detached from the situation. They travel and have their own homes, but remain connected to the ongoing issues.
Kimora Lee Simmons is excited about this next phase of her life with her family. She thinks including her five children—and their friends—on Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane will bring a new and interesting point of view to the show, which originally aired for four seasons between 2007 and 2011.

I have five children of my own, but I’m surrounded by so many more! My life has been full of changes – I’ve had different jobs and careers, gone through marriage and divorce, and made and lost investments. Over the years, things have accumulated and been discarded, and everyone is growing up. I’ve raised both sons and daughters, and now my kids are old enough to drive, which means they’re also experiencing the challenges that come with it.
She added, “It’s life.”
I’m so excited about Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane! It airs on TopMob every Tuesday at 10 p.m. And while we’re all counting down the days until the next episode, I’ve been reading all about Kimora’s incredible family – it’s a fascinating look behind the scenes!

In Kimora’s house, she’s the mom, the dad, the president and the CFO.
Describing her family of seven, the businesswoman playfully compared it to The Brady Bunch, but added, ‘without a husband.’

Ming Simmons, the oldest of five children, was born on January 21, 2000, to her parents, Kimora and Russell Simmons, a well-known hip hop artist.
Ming went to NYU and, like her mother, is now working as a model.

Kimora and Russell welcomed daughter Aoki on Aug. 16, 2002.
Beyond her work as a model, Aoki is a gifted student. She was accepted into Harvard University at the young age of 16 and earned her degree in 2023.

Kimora and ex Djimon Hounsou are parents to Kenzo, born May 30, 2009.
Kenzo, now a teenager, is almost 6 feet 8 inches tall and stands much taller than his parents. He’s a key player for his high school basketball team.

In 2020, Kimora adopted 10-year-old Gary and welcomed him into her family, sharing all her love with him.
Now in high school, Gary has found a passion for football.

Wolfe, nicknamed “Wolfie,” was born April 10, 2015 to Kimora and ex Tim Leissner.

While not Kimora’s biological son, Kimora acts as mama to “bonus son” Jayden.
