First DLC for One of Digimon’s Biggest Games Drops in 2 Days

December is usually a quiet month for new game releases, as people focus on year-end awards and upcoming games. However, in 2025, December will offer updates and expansions to some of this year’s most popular titles. This includes the first story expansion for the popular RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Bandai Namco will release the “Additional Digimon & Episode Pack 1: Alternate Dimension” on December 8th at 6 PM EDT.

After a decade, Digimon Story: Time Stranger marked a fresh start for the Digimon Story series, and fans eagerly awaited its release earlier this year. It quickly became a huge success, topping Steam’s sales charts and becoming one of the best-selling Digimon games ever. Now, players who have finished the main game have a new reason to return with the upcoming Alternate Dimension DLC, releasing in just a few days. Here’s a look at what the DLC offers for Digimon Story: Time Stranger.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger Alternate Dimension DLC Details Confirmed in New Trailer

Players have been excitedly waiting for the first story expansion for Time Stranger, originally thought to be released next year. However, Bandai surprised everyone on December 5th by announcing the release date for “Alternate Dimension” with a new trailer – and it’s arriving much sooner than anticipated.

A new one-minute trailer reveals the Akshic Backdoor, a strange portal opened by a mysterious Digimon. Players must battle this Digimon to close the portal. The trailer also introduces new Digimon to Time Stranger, including Parallelmon, a fan-favorite making a long-awaited return. Players who enjoyed Cyber Sleuth will also recognize some familiar faces. You can watch the trailer below to get a sneak peek at the new downloadable content.

The new downloadable content will introduce five new Digimon to the game, including Blitz Greymon, CresGarurumon, and three variations of Omegamon. The trailer also gave players their first glimpse of Parallelmon in action.

The ‘Alternate Dimension’ downloadable content (DLC) is part of the Season Pass for Digimon Story: Time Stranger. The Season Pass costs $29.99 and is also included with the Deluxe and Ultimate versions of the game. It’s currently unknown if ‘Alternate Dimension’ will be sold separately, or if you’ll need to purchase the entire Season Pass to access it. As of today, it’s not available for individual purchase on digital stores, but that may change when the DLC releases on December 8th.

You can now play Digimon Story: Time Stranger on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game costs $69.99, and a free demo is available on Steam. This release is the first of three planned downloadable content packs for the Digimon Story: Time Stranger Season Pass. Originally scheduled for January-March 2026, the first pack is arriving sooner than expected.
