I’ve noticed Disney is really taking anime seriously lately. They proved it with Star Wars: Visions, where they let some top anime studios create original stories within that universe. Now, everyone’s been wondering if Marvel would get a similar treatment, and it looks like the answer is yes! Marvel has officially announced an anime crossover is happening, and surprisingly, it’s coming out in 2026 – sooner than most people expected.
At Tokyo Comic Con this week, Marvel announced a crossover event bringing their heroes into the world of Silent Mobius. Creator Kia Asamiya revealed artwork showing characters from his series alongside popular Marvel figures like Spider-Man, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, Captain America, and Iron Man. Although a release date hasn’t been announced, this collaboration highlights Marvel’s increasing interest in blending their universe with manga and anime. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Asamiya has drawn Marvel superheroes.
Before creating Silent Mobius, Kia Asamiya worked on popular comics like Fantastic Four, Star Wars Tales, Ultimate X-Men, and The Mighty Thor. He’s probably best remembered for his work with writer Chuck Austen on Uncanny X-Men in the early 2000s, where he illustrated the X-Men for several issues. Although that run is often debated due to some of Austen’s bold changes to the characters, it showcased how well Asamiya’s art style worked in American comics. Marvel’s Anime History
Although Marvel hasn’t followed the success of Star Wars: Visions with its own official anime series, the company has a history with animation. Years ago, they collaborated with Studio Madhouse to create anime adaptations of characters like X-Men, Wolverine, Blade, and Iron Man. When it comes to manga, Deadpool and Spider-Man have been at the forefront, with stories specifically created for the manga format. Deadpool: Samurai and Spider-Man: Fake Red are excellent examples of Marvel bringing its characters to the world of manga.
Beyond Marvel’s limited ventures into anime, fans have witnessed exciting crossovers between Marvel’s heroes and popular anime characters. The famous Attack on Titan and Marvel story, though short, featured the Avengers battling the titans created by Hajime Isayama. More recently, Marvel comics have also brought heroes together with Japanese icons like Ultraman and Godzilla.
