11 bit studios has shared details about the upcoming update to Frostpunk 1886, calling it far more than just a visual upgrade. According to game director Maciej Sułecki, the update aims to make the game’s frozen world feel both emptier and more vibrant. You can see a preview in the video linked below.
Like the first game, you’ll see people moving around your city, but now their movements are much more realistic thanks to advanced motion capture technology. This makes them feel more alive and gives you more reason to protect them. The improved lighting also makes the city look beautiful, even during bad weather.
The game’s visuals have been improved, with textures now appearing more weathered to better suit its post-apocalyptic setting. While Frostpunk 1886 is still under development and won’t be available until 2027, the addition of new features like content, gameplay mechanics, mod support, and a new way to progress is promising. We’ll share more updates as development continues, so keep an eye out!
