The Revenge Club cast: Who stars in the Paramount Plus thriller?

Look, we all need a shoulder to cry on sometimes, but the support group in “The Revenge Club”? They’re not just offering tissues. These folks take helping each other through hard times to a whole new, and frankly, wild level. It’s a fascinating, if slightly unsettling, premise.

Inspired by J.D. Pennington’s The Othello Club, The Revenge Club centers around six people finding friendship and support in a divorce support group. When they decide the best way to heal is to get even with those who hurt them, their plans quickly spiral out of control.

Having all been hurt in past relationships, this group quickly descends into childish pranks and plans for revenge, but their schemes inevitably backfire.

So who exactly are these hapless but lovable people ready to get even?

The Revenge Club cast

Here’s the main cast list for The Revenge Club:

  • Aimée-Ffion Edwards is Emily
  • Martin Compston is Calum
  • Meera Syal is Rita
  • Sharon Rooney is Rachel
  • Douglas Henshall is Steve
  • Chaneil Kular is Tej
  • Amit Shah is Malcolm

Here’s what you need to know about each character and who plays them.

Aimée-Ffion Edwards plays Emily

I’m totally hooked on this story about Emily! She seemed to have the perfect life – a successful career, everything she could want – but then someone really let her down. After getting divorced, she joined a support group hoping to feel better, and instead she found this amazing group of friends. They’ve helped her rebuild her confidence and she’s even starting to think about romance again! But things are getting complicated because of some things the group is doing, and now Emily has to figure out what she wants her life to look like moving forward. It’s a really compelling story!

Aimée-Ffion Edwards is a Welsh actress known for her roles in several popular TV shows. She first gained recognition as Sketch in the drama Skins, and has since appeared in Peaky Blinders as Esmé Shelby, The Detectorists as Sophie, and Keeping Faith as Madlen. Currently, she plays Shirley Dander in the Apple TV+ series Slow Horses.

Martin Compston plays Calum

Let me tell you about Calum. He’s a really compelling character, first and foremost a dad who just wants the best for his daughter, striving to give her a normal, secure upbringing despite everything going on in his life. Once he falls in with this group, he quickly bonds with them, especially Emily. But as their quest for revenge gets increasingly dangerous and out of control, Calum finds himself at a crossroads. He’s got to decide if getting even is worth sacrificing the peaceful life he wants for himself and his daughter. It’s a tough internal struggle, and honestly, it’s one of the most engaging parts of the story.

Martin Compston is a Scottish actor famous for his role as Inspector Steve Arnott in the popular BBC series Line of Duty. He’s also been in other TV shows like Vigil, Our House, and The Rig. Beyond acting, he hosted the travel series Martin Compston’s Scottish Fling in 2022 and Martin Compston’s Norwegian Fling in 2024. His next project is the ITV drama Red Eye.

Meera Syal plays Rita

Rita is a woman rebuilding her life after discovering her husband’s affair. The betrayal deeply affected her, causing her to become withdrawn and lose her former confidence. However, joining a support group helps her regain her strength and rediscover the vibrant person she used to be, particularly as they begin to work together on playful plans.

Meera Syal is an actress known for both comedy and drama. She first became famous on TV with the comedy shows Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumars at No. 42. More recently, she’s appeared in The Devil’s Hour, The Wheel of Time, and The Split. She received an MBE in 1997 and a CBE in 2015 for her contributions to acting and writing.

Sharon Rooney plays Rachel

Rachel appears strong and determined as she navigates her divorce, but she’s secretly struggling and keeping a painful secret from her friends. When she joins the “Revenge Club,” she enjoys experimenting with different personas. However, as the group’s actions become more extreme, Rachel must confront her true self.

Sharon Rooney is a Scottish actress best known for playing Rae in the TV show My Mad Fat Diary (2013-2015). She’s also appeared in other popular shows like Two Doors Down, The Teacher, Zapped, and Daddy Issues. Most recently, in 2023, she acted alongside Margot Robbie in the movie Barbie.

Douglas Henshall plays Steve

I found Steve to be a really compelling character. He’s a guy reeling from a divorce, and it’s clear his years in the military have left him craving structure. So when he falls in with this unusual group, the Revenge Club, he throws himself into it completely. It’s like he’s found a new purpose, and a new family, in the most unexpected place. He really embraces the chaos and camaraderie, which makes him a joy to watch.

Douglas Henshall is a Scottish actor famous for his roles as DI Jimmy Pérez in the TV series Shetland and Nick Cutter in Primeval. He’s also been in other popular shows like Outlander, In Plain Sight, Collision, and The Silence.

Chaneil Kular plays Tej

Tej is a bit socially awkward, but he’s very perceptive and good with technology. After his divorce, he feels ignored and unappreciated by his family, who seem to favor his ex-wife and brother. Joining a support group helps him gain confidence, despite being the youngest member.

Chaneil Kular is an actor from the UK best known for his role as Anwar in the Netflix series Sex Education. He’s also appeared in Black Narcissus and Protection, and has had guest appearances in The Cleaner on BBC and Bodies on Netflix.

Amit Shah plays Malcolm

I recently met Malcolm, and he seems like a genuinely good guy – a therapist who leads a support group for people going through divorce or loss. He really wants to help, and you can tell he’s motivated by his own past. But honestly, his eagerness sometimes misses the mark with the group members, who are all processing their pain in very different ways. As the story unfolds, things get complicated, and we see Malcolm struggling to maintain a professional distance while also dealing with his own issues. It’s a fascinating look at how good intentions can sometimes lead to trouble.

Amit Shah is an actor from Britain, most famous for playing Faisal Bhatti, the untrustworthy pharmacist, in the TV series Happy Valley. He’s also been in other shows like Mr Bates Vs. The Post Office, Riot Women, and Murder Before Evensong, as well as films such as Paddington in Peru and Pain Hustlers.
