The Nintendo Switch 2 is already showing how popular its exclusive games are, with titles like Donkey Kong Bonanza, Mario Kart World, and Metroid Prime: 4 attracting a lot of attention. More third-party developers are also supporting the new console compared to the original Switch. Now, one of the most highly-regarded horror games ever created is coming to the Switch 2, adding to a growing list of scary titles like Resident Evil: Requiem. Next year, players will be able to experience a game that truly revolutionized the horror genre.
The ghost hunting game Phasmophobia is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, though the exact release date hasn’t been announced yet. Right now, you can play the game on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation VR2, and Xbox Series X/S. The developers, Kinetic Games, are also planning to launch the complete Version 1.0 of the game in 2026, and it’s unclear if that release will coincide with the Switch 2 version.
A new trailer shown at The Game Awards announced that the popular horror game is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. Up to four players can team up online to investigate spooky locations across 14 different maps, including a brand-new diner arriving in 2025. Daniel Knight, CEO and Game Director at Kinetic Games, shared his enthusiasm for bringing this thrilling experience to Nintendo’s next-generation console.
We’re thrilled to announce that Phasmophobia is coming to the new Nintendo Switch 2! It’s something our team at Kinetic Games and our players have been hoping for, and we’re excited to finally share the news. With the full version of the game planned for release in 2026, it’s a great time for new players to discover Phasmophobia. We can’t wait for Switch 2 owners to join our community and enjoy all the content we’ve added and will continue to add throughout 2025.
Phasmophobia has been a huge success, remaining a top horror game even while in early access. The upcoming release on the Nintendo Switch 2 will let players experience the game on the go, and it signals the beginning of an exciting new phase for Phasmophobia, with Kinetic Games planning further updates and improvements.
It’s common for Nintendo Switch and its next version, the Switch 2, to get games later than other consoles, or sometimes miss out on them entirely. Game exclusivity has always been a part of the gaming world, especially when it comes to consoles. However, with better technology and increasing player expectations, developers are now releasing games on a wider range of platforms.
