I still remember when the “Age of Apocalypse” storyline came out thirty years ago – it was absolutely groundbreaking for the X-Men! It really set the tone for that era. Now, Marvel is revisiting that world, but with a fresh spin. It’s amazing to see them honor the past while pushing things forward with a new villain – Revelation, Apocalypse’s heir. He’s thrown the US into total chaos, and it’s been ten years of this dark future. But finally, after all this time, the “Age of Revelation” is wrapping up, and a huge secret has just been uncovered – I can’t wait to find out what it is!
As a longtime X-Men fan, I’ve seen a lot of wild schemes, but this one… wow. We knew Doug Ramsey, once a hero, had been twisted into Apocalypse’s right hand, reborn as Revelation, tasked with ensuring mutant survival at any cost. But issue #3 of Amazing X-Men (2025) finally reveals just how far he’s willing to go, and it’s truly shocking. Doug never wanted senseless destruction, but his plan to save mutantkind is so drastic, so terrifying, even his own wife couldn’t support it. Honestly, this entire event has been a non-stop thrill ride – bombastic, over-the-top, and completely insane – and this master plan is the absolutely perfect, mind-blowing climax it deserved.
Revelation’s Bombastic Plan on a Worldwide Scale

At the beginning of this storyline, in X-Men: Age of Revelation Overture, the main villain was shown to be plotting world domination. To stop him, future versions of the X-Men swapped minds with their younger selves and traveled back in time to defeat him. Simultaneously, the villain’s wife, Bei the Blood Moon, desperately contacted both Apocalypse and Charles Xavier on Mars. However, Psylocke, the villain’s assassin, found Bei and killed her, but not before Bei revealed a crucial truth to the psychic warrior.
Revelation, worried that Psylocke had betrayed him, rejected her, which led her to join a different group of X-Men trying to save the world. After battling and negotiating their way through Darkchild’s city, the team neared their goal. In Amazing X-Men #3, just as they were about to confront Revelation, Psylocke exposed his elaborate plan. The villain believed he could save everyone by making them as powerful as he was, and intended to reshape the entire world in his image. He planned to use his voice to transform the population, turning them into extensions of himself, and then expand his control globally.
Revelation’s Is A Plan As Stupid As It Is Fun

Revelation’s ambitious plan is to remake the entire world in his own image – a truly wild concept. It feels like something straight out of a comic book, and that’s what makes it so captivating. The original “Age of Apocalypse” was successful not just because of its strong story and creative ideas, but because it leaned into the unique weirdness that comics offer. After all, superhero comics are built on extraordinary powers, impossible feats, and colorful costumes, all used to protect the world from equally outlandish threats.
Superheroes are certainly capable of handling complex and important issues – they often do so very well. However, there’s always an element of fun and lightheartedness associated with the genre. Some writers believe these two things don’t mix, and try to make stories more ‘grown-up’ by removing the traditional, more playful elements and adding darker, more violent content. But this approach can be a mistake, as the very things that some see as childish are actually what make superhero comics so appealing and powerful.
The fantastical nature of superhero comics allows them to move beyond reality and create spaces where complex and important issues can be explored in relatable, engaging, and entertaining ways. The X-Men, for instance, frequently serve as a powerful metaphor for real-world prejudice and discrimination. The often outlandish situations in their stories help balance the weight of these themes, making the comics both educational and fun. Plus, in a media landscape often focused on maturity, the celebration of lightheartedness alongside serious storytelling is a uniquely human and truly remarkable quality.
Comics truly shine when they break free from limitations and explore completely unique and imaginative stories. I believe they can be both incredibly creative and deal with complex themes, and even when they’re just pure fun, that wildness is what makes them so enjoyable.
