Following the reveal of Leon in Resident Evil Requiem, prominent leaker Dusk Golem (also known as AestheticGamer) has shared new information about the long-rumored Resident Evil – Code: Veronica Remake. According to the leaks, the remake is expected to be announced next year and released in 2027.
It wasn’t clear if the game would be released in 2027 or 2028, and there was also uncertainty about whether Resident Evil Zero Remake would come out first. Now, reports suggest Resident Evil Zero Remake is planned for 2028, which makes a 2027 announcement for the other game likely. He says he’ll share any new information he receives.
If you were disappointed that Claire Redfield wasn’t in Resident Evil Requiem, there’s good news – reports suggest she’ll be the main character in Code: Veronica Remake. Chris Redfield will still have a significant role, though, and won’t be pushed to the sidelines.
Capcom acknowledges this is the first step in remaking several games with their RE Engine, but they emphasize that Code: Veronica Remake will still primarily focus on Claire Redfield’s story. They plan to expand on what’s been established, though the specifics of those changes are currently unknown.
The new game, Resident Evil Requiem, will be released on February 27, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. More details are coming early next year. Capcom has now confirmed that Leon and Grace will both have significant playable roles in the story, with their paths crossing in a way that’s similar to the game Resident Evil: Revelations.
The rumor is that Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake will be announced next year and released in 2027, followed by the Zero Remake in 2028. I’ll let you know if anything changes. But for now, let’s get excited about Resident Evil 9, which is coming in just two and a half months!

Fans of Claire will likely be pleased, as she’s taking center stage in the game. Chris isn’t being ignored, and Capcom understands this is a remake built on the RE Engine, but the story is definitely focused on Claire. With the remake of Code Veronica, their approach has been to improve and expand upon the original.
