Michele & Rob Reiner’s Daughter Shared Look at Their Final Weeks

Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner spent their final days surrounded by loved ones.

Just weeks before director Rob Reiner and his wife of 36 years were found dead at their home on December 14th – a case Los Angeles police are investigating as a possible homicide – their 28-year-old daughter, Romy Reiner, shared photos from a family vacation.

On December 1st, Romy posted about her family’s recent tropical vacation. She shared photos of her mom relaxing on the beach in a striped towel and her dad swimming. In the post, the actress wrote that she was grateful for her family, good health, and all of her followers.

On November 30th, Romy posted another throwback photo, this time showing her and her dad swimming in the ocean. Her dad was wearing a baseball hat from the movie Spinal Tap II.

Family members confirmed the deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner on the evening of December 14th. They are also the parents of Jake Reiner, 34, and Nick Reiner, 32.

We are deeply saddened to announce the unexpected deaths of Michele and Rob Reiner, according to a statement given to Variety. We are devastated by this loss and ask for privacy as we cope with this incredibly difficult time.

Police arrested Rob’s son, Nick, on December 15th in connection with the deaths of his parents, Rob, 78, and Michele, 68. The couple was found dead in their Brentwood, California home. Nick is being held without bail on suspicion of murder, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Tracy Reiner, Rob Reiner’s 61-year-old daughter with the late Penny Marshall, says she’s still reeling from her father’s passing.

Tracy, speaking with NBC News, said she came from a wonderful family and last saw her father on December 13th. She added, “I’m just at a loss for words.”

Romy hasn’t publicly commented on the passing of her parents. She frequently shared heartwarming moments with them, especially her father, and often posted funny videos of him on Instagram. Just before the news of her father’s death was confirmed, she actually posted about his 1984 film, This Is Spinal Tap, and its new sequel, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.

For Father’s Day 2021, Romy described her father as someone she could talk to endlessly, but also someone she felt completely comfortable just being quiet with.

She concluded in her post, “Love you forever.”
