Steam Users Have Until December 18 to Claim Free Open-World Game

A popular, but often overlooked, online role-playing game is now available to play for free on Steam, but this offer won’t last forever.

I was so excited to see on the official Black Desert Online page that the game is completely free right now! It’s awesome that you can download it without paying anything. But, heads up – this deal doesn’t last forever. You only have until December 18th to grab a copy before it goes back to its regular price of about $10. Definitely don’t want to miss out!

Steam Users Can Get a Free Open-World RPG For a Limited Time

Black Desert Online is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) created by the Korean studio Pearl Abyss. It’s known for its fast-action combat and open-world freedom, offering a different experience compared to many other games in the genre.

Black Desert Online stands out with its dynamic combat. Unlike many games, you need to aim and manually control your attacks, instead of simply selecting a target.

In Black Desert Online, players are drawn into a rich fantasy world torn apart by conflict. A long-standing political struggle between the Republic of Calpheon and the Kingdom of Valencia has escalated into a full-scale war, and players will uncover the details as they explore.

Players can choose from 30 unique character classes, each with special abilities that can be improved as they play.

As a huge fan of Black Desert Online, one of the things I love most is just how dangerous the world feels – there are monsters everywhere! Luckily, you’re not totally defenseless. You can actually tame wild horses and other creatures, and if you take good care of them, you can even breed them to get even more powerful mounts. It’s a really cool system!

Like other games, Black Desert Online has a weather system that can change conditions from clear skies to thick fog and even major disasters. The game also features a realistic day and night cycle, meaning characters you interact with will go home to rest at night and won’t be available.

Critics generally like Black Desert Online. As of today, the game has a Metascore of 73 out of 100 on Metacritic, based on 35 reviews.

While critics had a positive reaction, players haven’t been as impressed with the game. Currently, Black Desert Online has a user score of only 4.7 out of 10, based on over 1,100 ratings.

Players who enjoyed Pearl Abyss’s earlier games will be excited about their new title. Originally planned as a backstory to Black Desert Online, Crimson Desert has evolved into a standalone, single-player experience.

I’m really excited about this new character! He’s one of the Greymanes, and the story follows him as he tries to find his friend after a terrible loss against the Black Bears. It sounds like a really compelling journey of reunion and overcoming hardship.

Players will be able to battle enemies on foot, on horseback, and in large-scale conflicts, including against colossal enemies like mechanical dragons. Initial previews of Crimson Desert have been largely positive, with reviewers praising its detailed world and skillful combat system.

Black Desert Online is free to download on Steam until December 18.
