Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 4 Weapon Adjustments

Bases and Facilities
- – Sorting armor by skill now also highlights the individual armor pieces that have the skill.
- – The “Equipment Skills” sort criterion in the Equipment Box now only displays available skills possessed by equipment you own.
- – Equipment appearance loadouts now include an option for registering the currently applied hair design data.
- – Layered armor in the Equipment Appearance menu can now be filtered by α and β types.
Monsters
- – Fixed an issue where, if the player moves locales after the Jin Dahaad notification appears (indicating that Jin Dahaad is moving from the Iceshard Cliffs to Rimechain Peak) but before Jin Dahaad completes its move, the Jin Dahaad quest will fail to spawn.
- – Fixed an issue with the High Purrformance Barrel Puncher where Focus Strikes were not contributing correctly to the combo count.
- – Fixed an issue where Uth Duna’s veil destruction animation could be canceled by another action, causing the veil to remain intact.
- – Fixed an issue where canceling Arkveld’s Unleashed state (in which its chainblades sweep out in a wider area) during certain actions would fail and instead restore the damage required to cancel the state.
Player
General
– Increased the max elemental values possible for the player’s status.
We’ve made Perfect Guards more forgiving. When you successfully block an attack that normally causes a slight stumble, the visual effect of the block will be smaller.
After successfully blocking a powerful attack with a sword and shield, great sword, lance, gunlance, charge blade, or heavy bowgun, you can now transition into certain follow-up actions more smoothly and quickly.
– Fixed an issue where the Hook Slinger’s range would be reduced when the capture net is equipped.
We fixed a bug where players weren’t seeing enough helpful information when a large monster used a restraining attack against them.
I’m so glad they fixed that speed glitch! It was really annoying when my character would suddenly zoom around during certain moves. Now everything feels much smoother and more controlled – a big improvement!
We fixed a bug where players could still get hurt by Jin Dahaad’s attack even when protected by The Blackest Night and a Giant Ice Chunk. This issue has been resolved.
Okay, so they fixed a really annoying bug! Apparently, if you were carrying a Barrel Bomb and your Palico used its Water Gun, you could accidentally take damage from the splash. It sounds weird, but it happened! Glad they sorted that out – no more friendly fire from my little buddy!
We fixed a bug that sometimes stopped players from dashing while using the Pumpkin Head gesture.
We fixed a bug that prevented players from using the Water Gun gesture while wielding Omega’s Sword or Omega’s Rod.
We fixed a bug where players would sometimes incorrectly thank Support Hunters, even when they hadn’t provided support.
We fixed a bug that caused the special animation for the Fender collaboration to not show up properly for other players when playing online.
We fixed a problem that caused the player’s longsword to appear incorrectly in its sheath while using the ‘Battle-Ready Pose (Extra)’ stance.
We fixed a bug where canceling the Pumpkin Head gesture could briefly make the player’s hair vanish.
Great Sword
We’ve boosted the damage of Charged Slash, Strong Charged Slash, and True Charged Slash, as well as how well they benefit from elemental effects.
Okay, so I noticed a bug where, after a Perfect Guard, I couldn’t block again for a bit if I tried to move around right after. They’ve fixed that! Now, even if I immediately try to move after a Perfect Guard, I can still block – no more waiting!
Long Sword
Special Sheathes will now stay active for a longer time if you’re waiting while one is active.
– Spirit Release Slash will no longer hit captured monsters.
We fixed a bug that sometimes stopped players from drawing their weapon after using a Spirit Release Slash if they didn’t immediately move in a direction. Now, you should be able to draw your weapon normally in those situations.

Sword & Shield
– Adjusted the hitbox of Perfect Rush to make it easier for some inputs to land.
– Forward Slash raw damage has been increased.
– Forward Slash now combos into Lateral Slash more smoothly than before.
– Perfect Guard now transitions into a regular Guard slightly more quickly.
– Perfect Guard now combos into a Lateral Slash slightly more quickly.
We resolved a problem where the Sidestep Slash attack acted differently in Focus Mode depending on how you control the game. It now works consistently regardless of your control settings.
We fixed a bug that stopped players from being able to do simple things, like move or use items, immediately after pulling out their weapon while standing still.
Dual Blades
We’ve lowered the durability loss from using Focus Strike’s Turning Tide and Turning Tidedrill attacks.
– Made adjustments to keep Demon Boost Mode active even after sheathing your weapon.
– You can now exit Demon Mode mid-movement after performing a Demon Dodge in Demon Boost Mode.
We fixed a bug that caused the ‘Focus Strike: Turning Tide’ ability to sometimes stop working after hitting specific parts of a monster with a deflection.
Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know I fixed a bug that was really annoying me in Demon Mode. Sometimes, after dodging, my character would drift off course with those Type 2 directional controls. It’s all sorted now, so you should be able to move exactly where you want after a dodge!
Hammer
You can now move further during a Follow-up Spinslam by using the movement controls while attacking.
– Fixed an issue where portions of Focus Blow: Earthquake were dealing fixed raw damage.
We fixed a bug where moving in specific directions right after performing an Overhead Smash would unexpectedly stop your character’s movement. This was happening with Type 2 Directional Controls.
Hunting Horn
– Performance Beat raw damage has been increased slightly.
Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know I squashed a bug that was throwing off the timing between what I did on screen and the visual effects during performances. Basically, things were feeling a little off, like my attacks weren’t lining up with the cool animations. It’s fixed now, so everything should feel much smoother and more responsive!
Lance
– High Thrust III and Mid-Thrust I, II, and III raw damage has been increased.
– Grand Retribution Thrust and Double Counter-thrust raw damage has been increased.
– Triple Thrust raw damage and elemental scaling have been increased.
– Perfect Guard now chains into other actions more quickly.
As a fan, I’m really excited about this update! They’ve made it so blocking and especially Perfect Guarding are way more effective – you’ll take less damage when you successfully block attacks. And just so you know, if you’re using the Guard Up skill, it’ll work with this too, making even more attacks blockable and reducing the damage you take from those!
We resolved a problem with Type 2 Directional Controls that prevented the Leaping Thrust ability from working correctly when used from a standstill. It now launches you in the intended direction.
Gunlance
– The Wyrmstake Cannon was adjusted to make it easier to hit monsters.
We’ve improved the Wyrmstake Cannon’s accuracy in Focus Mode, so it now fires more reliably where you aim.
We’ve improved how much damage large guard reactions reduce when you block or perfectly block attacks. If you use the Guard Up skill to make an attack blockable, the damage reduction from Guard Up will now apply.
We fixed a bug that caused Wyrmstake Shots to vanish when a Wyrmstake Cannon hit another player.
Switch Axe
– Sword: Counter Rising Slash can now be chained into a sidestep.
The Sword’s Rising Slash now provides more protection from being knocked back and can be smoothly followed by a dodge.
– You can now evade while charging Unbridled Slash and Full Release Slash.
Okay, so this is awesome! Now, after I pull off a Zero Sum Discharge Finisher, I can immediately chain into an evade. It makes combos way smoother and faster – I don’t have to wait for the landing animation to finish before dodging. Definitely going to be using this a lot!
– Focus Assault: Morph Combination was adjusted to make it easier to hit wounds and weak points.
– Focus Assault: Morph Combination raw damage has been increased.
The damage output has been boosted for several sword attacks: Overhead Slash, Right Rising Slash, Left Rising Slash, and Heavenward Flurry.
– Unbridled Slash raw damage has been increased.
We’ve boosted the damage of both Element Discharge and Zero Sum Discharge, especially when dealing with multiple hits and raw damage output.
– Axe: Spiral Burst Slash raw damage has been increased.
We’ve boosted the damage of a few attacks: Sword’s Downward Fade Slash, Sword’s Morph Double Slash, and Axe’s Morph Rising Double Slash now hit harder.
– Sword: Morph Slash raw damage has been increased when chaining from an evade in Sword Mode.
We fixed a display issue where the status screen incorrectly showed higher numbers than the maximum capacity for Dragon, Poison, Paralysis, and Exhaust Phials. This correction only affects what’s shown on the screen and doesn’t change how the phials actually work.
Charge Blade
We’ve shortened the pauses that happen when you repeatedly hit monsters while using the Power Axe. These pauses, called ‘hit stops,’ are the brief freezes or slowdowns you see when your attack connects.
We’ve made it easier to use guard points and Perfect Guards during the Axe: Morph Slash attack. The timing window for these actions has been increased, and they’ll now activate more quickly.
– Savage Axe Slash raw damage has been increased.
– Axe: Element Discharge and other attacks now chain into moves like Axe: Morph Slash more quickly.
– The first hit of Axe: Element Discharge II now chains into Axe: Morph Slash.
– Focus Slash: Double Rend can now chain into Axe: Morph Slash.
– Focus Slash: Double Rend can now chain into other actions more quickly.
We fixed a problem that prevented the ‘Axe: Element Discharge II’ attack from smoothly connecting into ‘Axe: Amped Element Discharge’ when players used specific button combinations.
As a player, I was really happy to see they fixed that annoying little bug where there was a slight delay when I told my guard to turn – now they spin around much faster and more reliably when I give the order! It makes controlling them so much smoother.
We fixed a problem where the on-screen button prompts didn’t always match the correct inputs when performing certain combos with the Sword: Morph Slash attack.
Insect Glaive
You can now perform a Descending Slash by quickly pressing specific buttons after certain attacks. The more attacks you land beforehand, the more powerful the Descending Slash will be. For example, on PlayStation 5, press Triangle then Circle. On Xbox, use Y then B. On PC, use your default left and right mouse clicks at the same time.
The damage of Sidestep Slash and the Sidestep Slash Combo has been increased, and the attack speed is now faster after collecting all three extracts.
– The player will no longer be knocked back after initiating a Rising Spiral Slash.
– Jumping Slash/Strong Jumping Slash can now chain into a Descending Slash/Strong Descending Slash.
We fixed a problem that prevented some charged attacks from smoothly transitioning into a Descending Slash while in Focus Mode, even when the charge button was released.
We fixed a bug that caused the Kinsect to act strangely during a Leaping Thrust Focus Strike, particularly when fighting monsters like Nu Udra.
– Fixed an issue where the Kinsect stopped moving after encountering ledges in certain terrain.
Light Bowgun
– Focus Blast: Eagle Strike Rapid Fire Gauge recovery amount has been greatly increased.
We’ve made Chaser Shot more responsive, so it’s now smoother to quickly follow up with dodges or other attacks after firing.

– Dragon Ammo Rapid Chaser Shot firing rate has been increased.
– Dragon Ammo has shorter time between hits and is more likely to hit monsters.
– Dragon Ammo max effective range has been increased.
The Rapid Chaser Shot now fires faster when equipped with Poison, Paralysis, or Sleep Ammo.

We fixed a bug that caused players to move slower than expected when aiming and moving diagonally.
Heavy Bowgun
– Wyverncounter Ignition now restores Ignition Gauge upon a successful offset.
– The player is no longer knocked back when firing Wyverncounter Ignition.
We’ve made Wyverncounter Ignition faster – it now reacts more quickly when you load and fire the attack.
– Wyverncounter Ignition now chains more easily into other actions after firing.
You can now smoothly transition into dodging or sidestepping while preparing to use Wyvernblast Ignition or Focus Blast: Wyvern Howl. The way these moves evade attacks – both when charging up and after firing – has been updated to a sidestep instead.
– Reduced the amount of Ignition Gauge that Wyvernblast Ignition consumes.
– Wyvernblast Ignition raw damage and Fire damage has been increased.
– Wyvernblast Ignition now chains more quickly into guards, evades, and other actions after firing.

– Focus Blast: Wyvern Howl raw damage has been increased.
– Dragon Ammo has shorter time between hits and is more likely to hit monsters.
– Dragon Ammo max effective range has been increased.
The damage scaling for Ignition modes ST I and II has been improved. This change impacts Wyvernpiercer Ignition, Wyvernheart Ignition, and Focus Blast: Wyvern Howl.
We fixed a bug that sometimes caused players to act strangely while using Stalwart Guard.
Bow
– Dragon Piercer and Arc Shot raw damage has been increased.
– Increased the raw damage of Tracer arrows and Fuse arrows.
The damage and elemental effectiveness of Charged Shot, Power Shot, Power Volley, and Thousand Dragons have all been improved.
– Power Coating and Piercing Coating raw damage scaling has been increased.
– Coating application speed has been increased.
– You can now chain from a Charging Sidestep into loading a Tracer arrow.
We fixed a bug where the damage from destroying multiple enemy weak points with Focus Fire: Hailstorm wasn’t calculated correctly, especially when using the Partbreaker skill. This meant damage scaling and Partbreaker’s effects weren’t working as intended.
We fixed a bug that prevented stamina from recharging correctly after using a backward Discerning Dodge in specific situations.

Skills
Guard Up now provides damage reduction even when you’re blocking attacks. Here’s how the skill works now:
Reduces damage taken when guarding and allows you to guard against ordinarily unblockable attacks.
Level 1: Reduces damage taken by 10%, plus an additional 20% when conditions are met.
Level 2: Reduces damage taken by 20%, plus an additional 30% when conditions are met.
Level 3: Reduces damage taken by 30%, plus an additional 50% when conditions are met.
– Charge Up: Now also boosts the damage of Hammer charged attacks.
– Ballistics: Now also boosts the raw damage of Level 3 shots made at critical range.
– Elemental Absorption: Reduced the cooldown time between skill activations.
– Flayer: Increased the activation rate and effect strength.
Flayer: This skill deals extra damage, even if a monster body part is already fully broken.
We fixed a bug with the Flayer skill where the on-screen notification wouldn’t appear during high-rank quests when extra damage was activated after building up enough power.
– Binding Counter (Set Bonus Skill): Increased the effect duration.
– Flawless Armor (Set Bonus Skill): Increased the effect strength.
– Protein Fiend (Set Bonus Skill): Increased the effect duration and the Level 2 effect strength.
Bad Blood (Set Bonus): This perk now makes your skills recharge faster and have a stronger effect.
The Scorcher set bonus now allows you to use your skills more often and makes those skills more powerful.
Whiteflame Torrent now recharges faster and deals more damage when combined with the Scorcher set bonus skill.
We’ve added specific moves for each weapon that can now activate bonus damage skills.
Here’s a breakdown of special attacks for each weapon type:
Long Sword: Spirit Thrust, Spirit Helm Breaker, Spirit Blade II
Hammer: Charged Upswing, Mighty Charge Upswing, Mighty Charge Slam
Lance: Triple Thrust
Gunlance: Wyrmstake Cannon, Wyrmstake Full Blast, Multi Wyrmstake Full Blast

Bow: Thousand Dragons, various shots with Piercing Coating and Tracers, Power Shot, Power Volley, Flying Swallow Shot (Piercing Coating excludes some of these last three).
We fixed a bug with the Binding Counter skill where it would sometimes continue to activate even after you started a new challenge quest. This meant the skill’s effects would incorrectly persist between quests.
We fixed a problem with the ‘Bubbly Dance’ skill. Previously, the number of successful dodges needed to activate the skill wouldn’t reset properly when you started a challenge quest. Now it should work as intended.
Support Hunters
We’ve given Olivia, Rosso, Mina, and Kai a small attack boost when you’re leading a quest at HR 50 or above.
We’ve made Support Hunters more consistent in combat. They’re less likely to stop attacking even when the player isn’t actively fighting, and they’ll rejoin the battle more quickly once the player starts attacking again.
We fixed a bug that caused Support Hunters to sometimes lose health and faint after finishing a quest.
We fixed a bug where Support Hunters would incorrectly enter standby mode near a trap set for a Nerscylla Clone during the Omega Planetes hunt, even if the trap wouldn’t actually do anything.
We fixed a bug where Support Hunters weren’t always attacking Omega Planetes, even when they were close by.
– Fixed an issue where Mina would aim for out-of-reach body parts on certain monsters.
We fixed a bug where monsters wouldn’t properly enter Power Clash mode after Rosso initiated one.
We fixed a bug that caused system messages to disappear when a player, acting as the host, received musical effects from Kai’s Performances.
We fixed a bug that caused Support Hunters to sometimes use Flash Pods or traps over and over again by mistake.
We fixed a bug that caused weapons and slinger ammo to sometimes vanish when they hit a Support Hunter riding a Seikret.
Seikret
If you try to use an item while riding a Seikret, the item’s use won’t be interrupted even if the Seikret automatically dodges an attack at the same time.
The Seikret now recovers and accelerates more quickly after automatically dodging threats.
Okay, so I was having this weird problem where if I did a jump off my Seikret, sometimes it would activate again on its own, even if I wasn’t pressing any buttons! It was super annoying. But good news – the developers fixed it! Now when I jump off, it doesn’t accidentally re-trigger. It’s a small thing, but it makes a big difference!
