Hollow Knight Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Coming in 2026 With High Frame-Rate Modes and Resolutions

While fans eagerly await Hollow Knight: Silksong in 2026, Team Cherry isn’t forgetting about the original game. They’re releasing a Nintendo Switch 2 version with improved graphics – higher resolution, a smoother frame rate, and extra visual effects. Best of all, it’s a free upgrade for anyone who already owns Hollow Knight on the original Switch.

Plus, all versions of the game are getting updated with new features, like support for wider 16:10 and 21:9 aspect ratios. This update is actually available right now for PC players through the beta program on Steam and GOG. The patch notes show it includes improvements like a dithering effect, options to reduce color banding, pausing the game when looking at your inventory, and smoother map movement.

The update also includes several gameplay tweaks and bug fixes, like Salubra’s Blessing now ending when your Soul is full, and reducing how much enemies bounce when staggered, such as Grey Prince Zote. This isn’t everything that’s changing, though – Team Cherry plans to add more improvements before the game releases on the Switch 2 next year.
