Devolver Digital and Brigada Games have announced that Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, a simulator where you manage an apocalyptic checkpoint, will be released on Steam for PC on January 12, 2026.
Since it was first shown in May, Quarantine Zone: The Last Check has been added to over 1.2 million users’ wishlists, and more than two million people have tried out the free demo.
Here is an overview of the game, via Devolver Digital:
In Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, you play as a government agent guarding a vital checkpoint during a zombie outbreak. You’ll need to assess incoming survivors, carefully manage limited supplies, and make tough choices about who to allow through – and who to turn away.
Okay, so it’s not just about gathering supplies like food and fuel and keeping my base safe. This game really makes you deal with people too – figuring out who to trust when everyone’s desperate, and living with the tough choices you have to make. Every decision feels like it has real weight, and it definitely gets to you.
The full release of Quarantine Zone: The Last Check will include many new features that weren’t in the demo version, such as:
- The new portable X-ray, which scans a person’s internal organs for signs of infection… or checks whether a survivor is hiding contraband where the sun don’t shine.
- A new metiascope helps inspect people’s eyes for signs of the virus (or you can test for healthy reflexes with the new medical reflex hammer).
- Use the laboratory to examine survivors with unknown symptoms and discover dangerous new signs of the virus.
- A feeding cage for zombies to dispose of corpses. This isn’t just for the fun of it: the government will pay handsomely for them.
- A new base management interface offers a bird’s eye perspective for overseeing and managing all resources from a single interface (no more carts).
- Relentless zombies will fall into your base from the rooftops; be ready to shoot them down.
- Many other improvements are also implemented to refine the challenge of base defense and overall gameplay.
