Cartoon Network has a long history of creating popular animated shows. While the channel continues to launch new originals, some older favorites have moved to streaming platforms. Now, one particularly memorable and sometimes spooky series is making a comeback to Cartoon Network! The show, which originally ended in 2010, will once again feature characters like Captain K’nuckles and the rest of the crew from Stormalong Harbor, and fans are hoping this return could lead to more new episodes.
Get ready for more nautical nonsense! The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack is returning to Cartoon Network on January 5th at 11:30 AM. While many fans expected it to air on Adult Swim or Toonami, the show will be exclusive to Cartoon Network. If you can’t wait until next month, all episodes are currently available to stream on Hulu. It skipped HBO Max, so it’s possible Flapjack could appear on other streaming platforms later on.
The Flapjack Crossover That Never Was

Earlier this year, the showrunner for Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, Adam Muto, shared a surprising idea that was considered for the spin-off: having the main characters travel into the world of Flapjack. Muto explained that the team spent time brainstorming how to expand the Adventure Time multiverse. They considered the idea that a wish could create alternate realities, specifically imagining that BMO wished everyone was a baby, and that this wish resulted in the universe they were building.
Nate Mutō suggested that a crossover with The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack didn’t happen, but could still be possible if Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake continues. They briefly considered an entire episode featuring Flapjack, even sketching some ideas, but ultimately decided against it. Mutō explained they strive to create new content, and while anything is possible, a crossover might feel repetitive. He left the door open for Flapjack to reappear in some way by season three of the new series.
There haven’t been any recent announcements about a new season or reboot of The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, so it’s unclear if we’ll see more episodes set in Stormalong Harbor. However, many animated shows have been brought back in recent years, so a return for this Cartoon Network series isn’t impossible.
