This is the fourth film adaptation of The Intouchables, and it’s continuing the series’ success in theaters. The original 2011 French movie, based on a real-life story, centers on the surprising bond between a wealthy man who is paralyzed (played by François Cluzet) and his caretaker, a young man with a troubled past (Omar Sy, known for his role in Lupin).
Okay, so The Intouchables was a huge deal – seriously, a massive success with both critics and audiences. I mean, it only cost about $10.8 million to make, but it went on to earn over $426 million worldwide! That’s incredible. Plus, it got a ton of recognition – eight César Award nominations, and Denis Sy actually won Best Actor. They also snagged a BAFTA and Golden Globe nomination, which is pretty amazing.
According to Variety, the Turkish remake of the film The Intouchables, titled Yan Yana and starring Haluk Bilginer and Feyyaz Yiğit, has broken box office records. Since its release on November 14th, the movie has sold over 2 million tickets and earned approximately $12.4 million.
Although that number isn’t large worldwide, Yan Yana was the most successful film of 2025 in Turkey.
The film has already earned more at the box office than several major releases this year, including A Minecraft Movie (which has made $5.2 million in Turkey and is the fourth highest-grossing film of 2025 worldwide) and Zootopia 2 (the fastest PG-rated movie to reach $1 billion globally, earning $4.1 million in Turkey).
The movie will premiere in seven European countries, like Germany, Sweden, and France – where the series originated. This release is expected to significantly boost its total earnings, potentially more than doubling the previous box office record in Turkey. However, it’s not predicted to surpass the two most successful films in the series.
While the French film The Intouchables has inspired remakes in India (Oopiri) and Argentina (Inseparables), the American version, The Upside (starring Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart), has been the most successful so far. Released in 2019, The Upside quickly became a box office hit, earning $125.9 million on a budget of $37.5 million.
I don’t think Yan Yana will become as huge a hit worldwide as The Intouchables or The Upside, simply because it hasn’t had as wide a release. Still, it’s so exciting to see that this series can still draw audiences to theaters, even after all these years since the first movie came out! It really proves the enduring appeal of the story.
