There is a brand new sole survivor.
Following a dramatic season with both exciting moments and difficult challenges – including a medical emergency when contestant Jake Latimer was bitten by a poisonous snake – Survivor revealed its season 49 champion in the finale on December 17th.
Just before the final tribal council, Kristina Mills and Rizo Velovic were eliminated, leaving Savannah Louie, Sophi Belerdi, and Sage Ahrens-Nichols to compete for the votes of previously eliminated players.
Ultimately, the cast voted Savannah as the winner, awarding her the $1 million prize and the title of “Sole Survivor.”
“It feels amazing!” she told Jeff Probst after her historic win. “It’s just… overwhelming. I’m usually pretty good with words, I always have something to say, but right now, I’m speechless.”
Savannah added, “I’ve never experienced anything like this before. It’s just a crazy feeling.”
Before one woman was declared the winner, the final three contestants – the first all-female final three since 2014 – had to answer tough questions from the jury about how they’d strategically played the game. The most memorable moment came when Kristina asked Savannah to name a family member or partner of each jury member, and Savannah couldn’t.
The second-to-last episode was filled with drama as Steven Ramm was unexpectedly voted out, even though he had a special advantage to protect his vote. This happened because Sage chose to align with Savannah, Rizo, and Sophi, who had been her rivals all season. Earlier in the episode, Sophie Segreti was voted out and joined the jury, a move Sage called “revenge” for Sophie previously eliminating Jawan Pitts.
Now that season 49 of Survivor has finished, excitement has been building for the show’s 50th season on CBS. Jeff recently announced the cast for Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans, which includes popular returning players like The White Lotus creator Mike White, season 45 winner Dee Valladares, and season 48 champion Kyle Fraser.

Cirie Fields, a popular contestant on Survivor and often called the best player to never win the show, is returning for another season. She hasn’t revealed much about what to expect.
In an interview with TopMob News last July, she revealed something unique about season 50. ‘I’ve never said this about any other season,’ she stated. She also shared that she’s been watching the show since its very beginning, when Richard Hatch won the first season, and considers herself both a fan and a player.
As someone who’s seen a lot of seasons come and go, let me tell you, the 50th was truly special. I’m not just saying that because I was part of it – it really was the best season ever. Seriously, the best!
Find out who’s competing on the next season of Survivor while we wait to see who wins season 50!
