Get ready for more adventures with The Time Tunnel, now coming to life as an audio series! A well-known sci-fi actor has joined the cast.
I’m so excited to hear that Sandra Dickinson is joining the cast of Big Finish’s The Time Tunnel: The Dimensions of Time! I’ve been a fan of hers for ages, and I can’t wait to see what she brings to the role. The boxset isn’t out until February 2026, but I’ve already marked my calendar!
Simon Dickinson is an actor best known for playing Trillian in the 1981 television series based on ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.’ He’s also appeared in several other popular shows and films, including ‘The Tomorrow People,’ ‘Thunderbirds Are Go,’ ‘Superman III,’ ‘Space Truckers,’ and ‘The Batman’.
She has quite a history with Doctor Who! She was married to Peter Davison, who played the Fifth Doctor, for 16 years, and their daughter is Georgia Tennant – famously known as the Doctor’s Daughter. This also means she’s David Tennant (the Tenth Doctor)’s mother-in-law.
The new box set follows Lewis Haworth (played by Seán Carlsen), MB (Safiyya Ingar), Cole Smith (Jay Reum), and Clare MacGregor (Rachel Handshaw) as they continue their journey through time. Emily Dickinson will make a special appearance in the first episode, titled ‘Family and Lies’.

She will portray Hazel Hawkins, a landlord who rents to Lily Dovecote (Kim Tatum), a young transgender woman, in Greenwich Village, New York. The story takes place the day before the Stonewall Riots, as the characters arrive in Manhattan.
This role is fantastic! The character I’m playing is a genuinely good person – kind, loving, and resilient. It was a lot of fun to portray her, and I’ve always wanted to use a New York accent, so this was a dream come true.

The 1960s were a remarkable decade, and it feels particularly relevant right now to discuss the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. It’s wonderful to learn about the movement’s beginnings in New York City.
You know, I’m so proud of my son-in-law, David Tennant. He’s been a real champion for this project, and honestly, it feels amazing to have been a part of it, especially seeing him advocate so passionately.
The sci-fi show The Time Tunnel premiered in 1966 and centered around a highly classified government initiative to create a working time machine.
You can now pre-order Irwin Allen’s The Time Tunnel: The Dimensions of Time from bigfinish.com. The digital download costs £19.99, while a download plus a collector’s edition 3-disc CD is available for £24.99.
