Honestly, heading into 2025, I didn’t think we’d get this many amazing game releases! RPGs, racing, platformers, action-RPGs… every month has been packed with something awesome. The only downside? There just aren’t enough hours in the day! It’s tough deciding what to play first, and even harder figuring out which games are actually worth your time and money.
Let’s explore some of the year’s best games, offering 50 to 100+ hours of fantastic gameplay.
Ghost of Yōtei
While seeking revenge for your family is a strong motivation in Ghost of Yōtei, the game truly shines through its engaging side activities. Beyond the main story, you’ll find unique and rewarding optional challenges like collecting Bamboo Strikes, creating Sumi-e Paintings, and completing tasks for memorable characters. You can earn powerful new armor by sneaking into a teahouse, gain incredible Charms by helping skilled artisans, or prove your strength by defeating rivals to unlock a showdown with a formidable enemy. There’s even time for bounty hunting if you’re up for it! These activities aren’t just distractions; they feel integral to the world and add a lot to the experience.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
With the release of the final DLC, Mysteria Ecclesiae, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is now complete. Even if you stuck to the main story, it remains one of the greatest open-world RPGs ever made. You begin as a nobody, working basic jobs, and gradually find a skill – whether it’s blacksmithing, hunting, or herbalism – and rebuild your life. The world of Bohemia is full of things to discover and do. You can live a virtuous life and earn the people’s admiration, or become a notorious criminal facing execution. The choice is yours, and the world reacts to your decisions in impressive ways over a 100+ hour playthrough.
Jurassic World Evolution 3
This is the most expansive and rewarding game in the series so far, boasting 90 different dinosaur species – and now, for the first time, you can raise them from juveniles! Plus, dinosaurs from Evolution 2 were added as a free update after launch. While there’s a full campaign, community-made parks, and challenge modes, the real fun comes from Sandbox Mode, where you can build the dinosaur park of your dreams, carefully managing every detail… or just enjoying the hilarious chaos when things go wrong. And when you inevitably want to start fresh, there’s even a tool to create entirely new islands.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows

While Ghost of Yōtei is better than Assassin’s Creed Shadows in many ways, it lacks one key feature: the ability to build and customize a home base. Shadows lets you personalize your hideout, even down to small details like moss on rocks, to create a base that looks exactly how you want. Shadows also offers a lot of other content, including castles to conquer, skills to learn, items to collect, new story missions, and improved parkour. It even introduces challenging Corrupted Castles to explore.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Honestly, the story itself is a wild ride, especially when you’re really digging into min-maxing your character and finding all the cheesy strategies. But Act 3 is where things really go off the rails, and the game throws everything it has at you in the post-game. We’re talking about a massive, flying fortress, a rematch with an old enemy, and this crazy Endless Tower packed with challenges. There’s so much to explore, and it’s awesome going back and totally crushing bosses you struggled with before. And of course, no good post-game is complete without a ridiculously tough superboss, and thankfully, this game delivers on that too.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
After years of anticipation, finally finishing Silksong is an amazing experience. You might find yourself online, confusedly asking about Act 3! The game lets you explore the beautiful world of Pharloom, climb to its peak, and defeat challenging bosses, all while maybe helping out a few tiny Fleas. But there’s a surprising amount of content beyond that – much more than you’d expect. Complete quests, meet fascinating characters, and if you’re up for a real test, try Steel Soul Mode where a single hit means game over!
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered
Even if you ignore any technical issues, Oblivion offers a huge amount of gameplay, especially if you don’t include player-made mods. The main game lets you embark on an epic journey to save Cyrodiil from the invading forces of Oblivion, complete with tons of side quests, interesting characters, and places to explore. The downloadable content adds even more adventures and some of the best storytelling in the game. You can create different character types, tackle quests in various ways, and most importantly, be patient – it’s a long game!
The First Berserker: Khazan

While The First Berserker: Khazan’s focuses on revenge and challenging bosses, getting the best ending involves completing side quests and collecting all of Ozma’s Diary fragments. Even if you just want to explore or replay at a higher difficulty, New Game Plus lets you keep all your gear, skills, and weapons, raises the level cap, and allows you to craft powerful Epic and Legendary items. Plus, there’s a fashion system for dedicated players to customize their look at the true endgame.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A
With 230 Pokémon to catch and 65 Mega Evolutions, the game offers a huge amount of content. Beyond that, you can tackle numerous side quests, compete in the Z-A Royale for ranking battles, and play online with others, including the new four-player Battle Club. Plus, there’s Mega Dimension – a whole separate area with even tougher challenges (level 100+ opponents) and more Mega Evolutions, providing a true endgame experience.
Donkey Kong Bananza
This game is a non-stop thrill from beginning to end, and the main story can be completed in under 20 hours. However, like other 3D Mario games, that’s just the beginning! There are 1000 Banadium Gems to collect, which will keep completionists busy. Plus, the DK Island and Emerald Rush areas add even more content – Emerald Rush, with its randomly generated levels, offers great replayability. And with new, limited-time events each month offering unique statues, there’s always something new to discover.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach
What makes Death Stranding 2 truly special isn’t just the core gameplay – spending hours delivering packages, constructing helpful structures like bridges and ziplines, and taking in the scenery. It goes much further, offering a variety of weapons, challenging targets, engaging side quests, and even appearances from well-known figures. Notably, Mamoru Oshii, the director of Ghost in the Shell, makes an appearance as a pizza chef! Ultimately, the game encourages you to carefully plan your routes and enjoy connecting with other players.
Elden Ring Nightreign

Limveld offers a lot of challenging combat, with eight powerful Nightlords and several other bosses to defeat. You can choose a Nightfarer character and customize how you play using different Relics. Completing each Nightfarer’s personal quest will also make them even stronger. Beyond that, there are Shifting Earth locations to discover. For a real challenge, you can fight the Everdark Sovereigns – even tougher versions of the Nightlords – or brave the Deep of Night for extended expeditions and potentially cursed rewards. If you’re up for it, you can even try to defeat everything on your own. The Forsaken Hollows DLC adds even more to the game with new Nightfarers and bosses to encounter.
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter
Completing the original Trails in the Sky FC with everything – all recipes, side quests, and optimized equipment – takes around 66 hours. The remake is much shorter, clocking in just under six hours. Even if you focus only on the main story and side content, it’s still a substantial game, and the added cutscenes and improved combat make the experience even more rewarding.
Where Winds Meet
Okay, so Everstone Studio really wants you to lose yourself in this game’s world – and it’s huge! There are tons of NPCs to chat with and seriously, hours of stuff to do. Beyond learning all the weapons and cool skills, there’s so much extra stuff you can get into. You can try Shuai Jiao (it’s like sumo’s ancestor!), explore dungeons, or just wander around helping people. It feels massive already, and they’re planning to add even more regions later, which is awesome. Honestly, it’s a really expansive game and I can see myself getting completely hooked.
Hades 2
Just when you feel like you’ve mastered Hades 2 – understanding all the Boons, weapons, and upgrades – the game reveals a whole new layer of content with access to Olympus. You’ll still enjoy familiar activities like farming, customizing your abilities, improving items, and collecting helpful pets. And even after finishing the main story, there are still secrets to uncover and tougher challenges to overcome with the Oath of the Unseen.
