With all the buzz about Avengers: Doomsday, it’s easy to forget Marvel has another movie planned for 2026! I’m really excited about Spider-Man: Brand New Day because it’s going to throw Peter Parker into completely new territory – he’ll be out on his own in New York City, without anyone to really lean on. But it’s not all doom and gloom! He’s going to be finding some new friends along the way, and I’m thrilled to hear Jon Bernthal is reprising his role as the Punisher. There’s even a chance we’ll see Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk show up! It’s unclear if Hulk will be an ally or an enemy at first, but I have a feeling we’ll see Bruce Banner back on the side of the heroes by the end of the film.
Sadie Sink, who many expected to be an ally of Peter in the upcoming movie, might actually be a villain. Recent reports suggest her character will cause trouble for the hero, even endangering his loved ones. Here are five lesser-known Marvel villains Sink could potentially portray in Brand New Day.
5) Typhoid Mary

New York City is home to a diverse group of criminals, and in Marvel Comics, one of the most interesting is Typhoid Mary. She’s an assassin with a unique mental condition, often clashing with Daredevil. Her ties to the powerful Kingpin and her ability to read minds make her a dangerous enemy for any hero.
The main connection between Mary and Sink is their shared red hair. Sink is also a talented enough actor to convincingly portray Mary’s multiple personalities. The only potential problem is that a version of Mary already appeared in the Iron Fist TV series, though Marvel Studios doesn’t seem very concerned with maintaining consistency with that show anymore.
4) Moonstone

Throughout the first five stages of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, aliens have been central to many storylines, and that trend is expected to continue in Phase Six. Meanwhile, Dr. Karla Sofen, a psychologist, discovers the origin of a patient’s powers, which unlocks abilities within herself, transforming her into the villain Moonstone. She proves to be a formidable opponent, repeatedly challenging and battling heroes like the Hulk and others.
I’ve always been fascinated by Moonstone. She begins as a pretty classic villain, but she’s got this interesting potential to be something more. I mean, she actually tried to do good with the Dark Avengers! If Marvel Studios is thinking about bringing Sofia Sink back, giving Moonstone a real character journey like that – moving from bad guy to someone a little more heroic – would be amazing. It feels like the perfect path for the character, honestly.
3) Madelyne Pryor

Ever since agreeing to play Jean Grey, Sink has been fielding questions from fans. With the X-Men set to be reimagined soon, many speculate that a key member of the original team might appear in a future Spider-Man movie as a hint of what’s to come. However, there’s another character people seem to have overlooked.
In the comic books, Mister Sinister creates a clone of Jean Grey and secretly replaces her within the X-Men. After the team discovers the deception, the clone renames herself Madelyne Pryor and establishes her own independent identity. The Marvel Cinematic Universe could cleverly cast Sophie Sink as Pryor – a name that only dedicated fans would know – allowing the actress to play both a clone and the original Jean Grey, showcasing two powerful characters with telepathic abilities.
2) Scream

Following the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, many fans expected a Bully Maguire appearance. However, Venom: The Last Dance seems to have put an end to that possibility by sending the Venom symbiote off-world. It’s still possible a small fragment remains and could bond with someone else, though.
Scream is a creature similar to Venom, created from the same source. After gaining life, it bonded with several individuals, notably Patricia Robertson, a former soldier. If the character played by Sink believes she can defeat Spider-Man, it would be fitting if she had some powerful abilities of her own.
1) Madame Masque

Iron Man has a knack for complicated relationships, and at one point, he dates Madame Masque, a well-known criminal. She became involved in crime after discovering her father was Count Luchino Nefaria and rose to a leadership position within the Maggia family. Though she doesn’t have any superpowers, she’s an incredibly skilled fighter.
As a big MCU fan, I always thought they could do something really interesting with Madame Masque. They technically already introduced her in the Agent Carter show, but honestly, I think they could easily brush that aside or say this new version is a relative. Imagine her being totally focused on rebuilding her family’s reputation – or, more accurately, building a criminal empire – right here in New York City. It would be a great way to bring that character to the forefront!
Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31, 2026.
