Naughty Dog has occasionally required overtime in the past, but it’s been a while since the whole team had to work extra hours – until now. According to Bloomberg, most employees recently completed seven weeks of required overtime to help get their new game, Intergalactic, back on schedule. The game is currently aiming for a mid-2027 release.
The main focus right now is “Target,” a project Naughty Dog is working on. After the holidays, the studio plans to share its development schedule with employees, but there are worries that overtime will increase as the game gets closer to release. Considering Naughty Dog’s history of demanding work conditions, the recent increase in hours – with some employees already working an extra eight hours a week – could indicate a difficult development period ahead.
The expected release timing is notable, especially considering rumors that Sony’s PS6 – including a handheld version – is also planned for 2027. If Intergalactic comes out then, it could mirror the situation in 2020, when The Last of Us Part 2 launched several months before the PS5.
