Steam Machine Leak Reveals $1000+ Price

According to industry insider Jez Corden, Valve initially planned to price its new console at $1000 when it was announced last November, with a release targeted for early 2026. However, the console’s launch was delayed, and Valve cited the need for more time to determine pricing. Since then, several factors have significantly increased production costs. The surge in demand for AI technology has driven up microchip prices, and global economic pressures, particularly related to the situation in Iran, have worsened. Given these developments, it’s likely the console will now cost even more than the original $1000 estimate. Anything over $1000 will likely be seen as too expensive, and while $1100 is considerably cheaper than $1500, the perceived difference might be minimal. Valve is facing a difficult situation, as launching a new gaming console during this period of high costs and economic uncertainty presents a major challenge – possibly the biggest the industry has ever seen.
