Kusanagi Mizuho’s popular manga series, Yona of the Dawn, recently finished its run in Hana to Yume magazine on December 19th, 2025. Originally starting in 2009, the historical fantasy was known for its beautiful artwork, creative story, and charming characters. The series became even more popular in 2014 with an anime adaptation, and after over a decade of waiting, a second season of the anime has finally been confirmed, adding to the excitement surrounding the manga’s conclusion.
Princess Yona’s sixteenth birthday takes a tragic turn when her beloved, Soo-won, kills her father and tries to kill her as well. Luckily, she’s saved by her loyal friend and bodyguard, Hak, and together they flee the castle. Now without a home or status, Yona sets out on a quest to find four legendary Dragon Warriors and embrace her role as the rightful Princess of the Kouka Kingdom.
Does Yona of the Dawn Season 2 Have a Release Date Yet?

The anime has been renewed for a second season, but details are still scarce – there’s no trailer or even a first look yet. Because of this, a release date hasn’t been announced. The news came in the latest issue of Hana to Yume magazine, which also featured the final chapter of the manga to generate excitement for the continuation. While we haven’t received any further updates about the sequel, we can likely expect more information next year. You can currently watch the first season on Crunchyroll, and all 45 volumes of the manga are available for purchase – both physically and digitally – on Viz Media’s website.
Volume 47 of the series will be available in Japan on February 20, 2026. There’s no confirmed date yet for when it will be released in English. At the same time, a special artbook with 64 pages (A5 size) will also be published. The series will conclude with Volume 48, which is expected to be shorter than previous volumes, containing just two chapters and one extra story. The release date for Volume 48 is still to be announced.
What Will Happen in Yona of the Dawn Season 2?

The first season of the anime ended with Yona, Hak, and Yoon successfully uniting all the Dragon Warriors. Despite this achievement, Yona is still unsure of what to do next, and Zeno’s inquiries push her to think about the future. Though she’s dealing with difficult feelings, her friends are there to support her every step of the way.
I’m so excited for Season 2! It’s going to follow our heroine as she faces a huge turning point, really trying to fix the kingdom of Kouka which has been struggling since her father was king. Get ready for a lot of travel – they’re going all over the place, digging into the secrets and crime that are hidden everywhere. Plus, we’ll finally get to understand the real meaning behind that ancient prophecy Iksoo, the oracle, spoke about – it’s going to be epic!
