Season 3 will finally make its long-awaited premiere on Jan. 8, 2026, on Crunchyroll.
At Jump Festa 2026 in Japan, new information about the anime adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s “The Culling Game” arc was revealed. The first trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game, Part 1 has been released, and the season is set to premiere in January 2026. Popular band King Gnu, known for their hit song “SPECIALZ” from Season 2, will also be performing the new opening theme, titled “AIZO.”
The first two episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 were shown early through the new movie, JJK: Execution. Currently playing in North American theaters, the film is a recap of the “Shibuya Incident” arc from Season 2 and also includes a one-hour sneak peek at Season 3.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, Part 1 Main Trailer Premieres
The anime adaptation has been highly anticipated, and its story is even more intense than the already shocking “Shibuya Incident.” It features a deadly competition where Jujutsu Sorcerers are forced to fight each other to the death, creating a brutal, battle royale-style conflict.
The most impactful part of the “Culling Game” arc is when Yuji Itadori is condemned to death by the leaders of the Jujutsu world because he’s housing Ryomen Sukuna, a powerful curse. Yuta Okkotsu is tasked with carrying out the execution, and this happens while Yuji is still recovering from the traumatic events of the “Shibuya Incident.” Based on what’s been shown, this battle between the two sorcerers will be both incredibly intense and emotionally difficult to watch.
The contrast between Yuta and Yuji is really striking, at least according to many fans of Jujutsu Kaisen. Some believe Yuta has faced and overcome much more difficult obstacles, dealing with a tragic past and a powerful cursed spirit, and has demonstrated greater potential as a sorcerer. Others see Yuji primarily as a vessel for Sukuna, who has captivated audiences with his compelling, yet dangerous, personality.
Because the character proved so popular, the creators used their grandchildren, Yuka Okkotsu and Tsurugi Okkotsu, to begin the official sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen. This approach was inspired by the 2021 prequel film, Jujutsu Kaisen 0.
Jujutsu Kaisen Seasons 1-2 are available to stream on Crunchyroll, Hulu and Netflix.
Yuji Itadori is an incredibly strong high school student who otherwise leads a normal life. Everything changes when he swallows a cursed finger to protect a friend, unknowingly unleashing a powerful curse within himself.
After that, Itadori became host to the incredibly powerful Ryomen Sukuna. With the guidance of Satoru Gojo, a top sorcerer, he enrolled at Tokyo Jujutsu High School – an institution dedicated to battling curses. This marked the start of his extraordinary journey: a boy becoming a curse himself in order to destroy them, a path he could never leave behind.
A new continuation of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series launched on September 8, 2025. It’s written by the original creator, Gege Akutami, with art by Yuji Iwasaki, and both new and archived chapters are available to read on the Viz Media and Manga Plus apps.
