While not as fast-paced as the previous episode suggested, “It: Welcome to Derry” continues to deliver exciting surprises in its fourth installment. Lilly’s reasons for avoiding Juniper Hill become increasingly weak, the military begins using Dick Hallorann’s psychic abilities to question people, and the Hanlon family is finally starting to believe Will’s stories about clowns and ghosts.

Okay, so at the end of episode four of this Stephen King series, things get really dark. General Shaw basically wants Dick Hallorann to strong-arm some information out of a guy named Taniel. Shaw thinks Taniel and his group know where Pennywise is hiding, and the general’s plan is seriously messed up – he wants to weaponize Pennywise! Like, use this terrifying clown against other countries, given all the global tension and fear of nuclear war. But Taniel isn’t giving anything up, he’s totally shutting Hallorann down and refusing to talk.

Many people involved with Star Trek: The Next Generation have talked about how the show had a rocky start. The first season, in particular, has been criticized for being inconsistent and sometimes lacking a clear focus. It took time for the series to emerge from the shadow of the original Star Trek. Eventually, the writers found their rhythm, and the actors became comfortable in their roles. It’s easy to overlook these early difficulties when looking back at the show’s success, but they’re important to remember when considering its best episodes. Here are a few of the most overlooked gems from Star Trek: The Next Generation after it hit its stride.

Characters like The Question, Raven, and Deathstroke have deeply sad pasts that really need to be explored with a more adult perspective. Others, such as Deadman and The Creeper, have powers connected to horror, and fans would be thrilled to see them featured in genuinely scary movies. To do these DC characters justice, an R-rated film would be the best approach – anything less could feel underwhelming.
