What to know:
- In the sun-kissed land of Brazil, a sprightly bunch of under-24s are leading the charge into cryptocurrency, wielding stablecoins and tokenized bonds like seasoned investors at a poker table (but less risky, one hopes).
- Digital fixed-income products are popping up faster than you can say “get-rich-quick,” with a staggering $325 million dished out in 2025 alone. Talk about a financial buffet!
- It seems that strategy varies by how much jingle is in one’s pocket, with middle-income users cozying up to stablecoins while their lower-income counterparts dive headfirst into traditional cryptocurrencies like bitcoin. Who said money can’t be fun?
In Brazil, it’s not the big-time traders betting wildly on volatile tokens; no, it’s the prudent younger crowd, often resorting to stablecoins and tokenized bonds as their trusty shields against the financial dragons of volatility.
According to the latest gossip from local cryptocurrency exchange Mercado Bitcoin-shared with CoinDesk in a delightfully titled report “Raio-X do Investidor em Ativos Digitais”-the fastest-growing group of investors this year is, drumroll please, those under 24. Surprise, surprise!
Participation in this youthful cohort has skyrocketed by 56% compared to last year, with many opting for the low-volatility delights of stablecoins and digital fixed-income products as their grand entrance into the world of finance, the report cheerily informs us.
These nifty offerings, known as Renda Fixa Digital (which sounds rather posh, doesn’t it?), allow investors to purchase tokenized slices of real-world income-generating assets. Think of it as sharing a slice of the financial pie without the calories-or the indigestion.
In 2025 alone, volume for these RFDs more than doubled, with Mercado Bitcoin distributing a mind-boggling 1.8 billion reals (that’s roughly $325 million for those too busy counting their own cash). On average, these products delivered a whopping 132% of Brazil’s “risk-free” benchmark rate, the Certificado de Depósito Interbancário (CDI), which is surely enough to make any investor raise an eyebrow.
But wait, there’s more! Other charming protocols in Brazil are also hopping onto the blockchain bandwagon, with Real-world asset (RWA) platforms like Liqi and AmFi offering their own versions of delightful fixed-income products.
Mercado Bitcoin also reported a 43% year-over-year increase in overall crypto transaction volume, with Mondays emerging as the busiest day. Apparently, the week starts with a bang for new investors and trading activity-as if Mondays needed more excitement!
This trend suggests a fascinating shift in the usage of cryptocurrency: it’s morphing from a speculative vehicle into a staple of weekly financial routines. Who knew investing could become so mainstream?
Investing based on income
Ah, but not all investors are created equal, and strategy differs sharply by income bracket. It’s a classic case of “you’ve got to know your audience.”
Middle-income users are more prone to sprinkle their funds into stablecoins-up to 12% of their portfolios-while keeping a respectable 86% in less volatile assets, presumably those ever-so-reliable tokenized bonds.
“Important events, such as the Central Bank’s new crypto regulations and the surge of stablecoins, have further piqued Brazilian interest in digital assets,” Fabrício Tota, VP of Crypto Business at Mercado Bitcoin, declared in the report, undoubtedly with a twinkle in his eye.
Speaking of regulations, the Brazilian central bank recently introduced a new suite of cryptocurrency rules, requiring service providers to get themselves some snazzy licenses and set specific capital requirements. Because what’s more fun than red tape?
Meanwhile, lower-income investors are diving headlong into traditional cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, likely hoping for those higher returns and prepared to embrace the thrills and spills of risk. After all, fortune favors the bold-or so they say!
