Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! During the first day of Jump Festa 2026, Jujutsu Kaisen was featured. As is tradition, creator Gege Akutami shared a special illustration to thank fans. This year’s illustration showed a somber Yuji from the sequel manga, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which takes place 68 years after the Culling Game. The manga has already confirmed that Yuji is still alive and doesn’t age, but the latest illustration, drawn by Yuji Iwasaki, only showed part of his face, obscuring his emotions.
The series’ public relations team shared a new illustration on X, along with a sketch by artist Iwasaki featuring the three main characters from Modulp. While fans were excited about the Yuji illustration, many noticed that almost every character Gege Akutami has drawn for Jump Festa has ended up dying in the story – including popular characters like Satoru Gojo, Choso, and Yuki Tsukumo. Even Nobara Kugisaki and Fumihiko Takaba were presumed dead for a significant period. This is the second time Yuji has been featured in a Jump Festa sketch; Takaba previously shared the first one. Though the sketch doesn’t reveal any definite plans, it’s hard not to suspect Akutami is setting up something important for Yuji’s character.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Needs to Give Yuji a Proper Conclusion

Yuji experienced a uniquely terrible fate compared to others, and continues to suffer the consequences. After his battle with Ryomen Sukuna, time seemed to stop for him, but he was left heartbroken as he watched all of his beloved friends age and pass away. Unable to endure any further loss, Yuji completely cut ties with everyone, disappearing so thoroughly that the entire jujutsu world lost track of him.
He’s deeply saddened that he couldn’t grant his grandfather’s final wish – to simply die peacefully with loved ones nearby. But Yuji knows his story isn’t over yet. He refuses to end his days wandering alone. He deserves a meaningful conclusion, and fans deserve to properly say goodbye to a character who sacrificed so much while trying to do good in his own way.
The latest chapter, Chapter 16, will be available on December 21, 2025, through the Manga Plus app and the Viz Media website – where you can also read previous chapters. The first collected volume of the manga will be released in Japan on January 5, 2025.
