The annual EastEnders Christmas episode promises to continue the show’s tradition of dramatic disasters in Walford, according to the recently released trailer from the BBC.
Zoe Slater is excited to spend Christmas with her family for the first time in a long time, but the person who has been harassing her since June is about to be revealed, and it could ruin the holiday. Actress Michelle Ryan hinted at this during an interview with her co-star Jessie Wallace.
She jokingly mentioned the Slater family won’t be having a Christmas dinner this year, and revealed that the actors don’t actually eat the food used in the festive scenes. It was all just for show.
I heard the Slaters are planning a community dinner at The Vic, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be all smooth sailing. Apparently, things might delay the snacks – I guess those pigs in blankets will have to wait!
The people of Walford will face the repercussions of their choices as they encounter figures from their past, current enemies, and glimpses of what’s to come, according to the show’s description.
Kat is still very protective of Zoe, who is focused on finding her son after years apart. However, someone is deliberately trying to force Zoe to leave Walford, and as she investigates, she uncovers surprising truths that challenge Kat’s devotion to her.
And that’s not the only drama on the way…

Okay, so as a soap fan, I’m really excited about this one! Apparently, Max Branning is about to come face-to-face with Cindy Beale, and it’s going to be huge. The crazy part? They’ve never actually met before. But Cindy knows Max was the one who caused her son Steven’s death – and she’s been hiding out in witness protection all this time, so it’s a recipe for total drama!
The New Year’s Day episode will heavily feature Max and is set to jump forward to 2027, revealing a difficult future for him and his family. A sneak peek image shows Max wearing a suit with a bloodstain, hinting at trouble.
According to executive producer Ben Wadey, the latest episode is intentionally mysterious, leaving viewers with more questions than clear answers. He hinted that although Max and his family seem to be facing a difficult situation, things aren’t as they appear.
Either way, viewers will have to stick with it through 2026 to find out that strand plays out.
