Netflix offers a diverse range of shows and movies, and romance is a particularly popular genre on the platform, especially within its anime selection. One romance anime, Blue Box, has become a major hit for Netflix. Recently, at the Jump Festa event – a large anime celebration – Blue Box revealed that season two is coming next year, and also shared a sneak peek of what’s to come.
I was at the Blue Box Super Stage at Jump Festa when they announced the second season of the anime will be coming out in Fall 2026. They also showed off a brand new key visual, giving us a first look at what’s coming next in the story. It really feels like it’s setting things up, considering the first season covered about 80 chapters, ending with the Autumn Training arc. It was great news for anime fans, but the author also shared that the manga itself is getting close to its conclusion.

Even though the manga is likely to finish next year – and might even end before the new anime season arrives – there’s still plenty of content for the anime to cover. We don’t have official details about when season 2 will be released or how many episodes it will have yet. However, based on the first season’s release schedule, it’s possible season 2 could start around the first week of October 2026 and have about 24-25 episodes. If this holds true, fans might be able to watch new episodes of Blue Box season 2 every week until the end of March 2027.
Season 2 of Blue Box promises to be even more captivating, building on the storylines already established. The connection between Chinatsu and Taiki is likely to develop further, potentially leading to a more defined relationship. Meanwhile, Hina’s sadness after being turned down by Taiki adds emotional depth to the story. What sets Blue Box apart is how it beautifully blends sports with romance, using athletic pursuits to inspire and enhance the characters’ love lives. As the characters face new obstacles while pursuing their goals, the return of Blue Box to Netflix next fall signals the comeback of a major hit romance anime.
