New Nintendo Switch 2 Model With Upgrade Officially Confirmed

Back in January, a listing on Nintendo’s website hinted at a different version of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. A new product code, “OSM,” appeared alongside the standard Switch 2’s code (“BEE”), leading some fans to believe a “Lite” or “OLED” model was on the way. However, it seems Nintendo was actually developing this version to meet European regulations. These regulations require the Switch 2 to have a removable and replaceable battery, a feature not included in the initial launch model. It’s currently unknown when this change will take effect, or why it’s more cost-effective for Nintendo to create a separate version just for Europe. It’s possible Nintendo may eventually roll out this version globally.
