Here comes the debut of the newest League of Legends champion, Aurora! Originating from the land of Frejlord, this Vastayan rabbit mage is prepared for magic duels on the Rift.
As of the latest patch 14.14, Aurora is now out from July 17.
With her sustain and mobility, Aurora sees play in the mid lane and top lane.

The release of a new LoL champ means a new biography, and Aurora is no exception.
An intriguing aspect of her past is unveiled, showing a remarkable affinity towards the spiritual realm and other dimensions. She dedicated considerable effort to deepening her understanding of these ethereal companions.
Through her investigation, Aurora discovered Udyr, another spirit walker, who guided her towards Ornn, the forge god. Together with the demigods of the frosty realms, they are now on a quest to uncover answers.
Six years ago, ideas for Aurora’s unique concept began taking shape through various aspects of Sylas, Yone, the Spirit Blossom event, and Fiddlesticks’ makeover.
A witch resembling a rabbit was the recurring theme. She lived among spirits. They chose Frejlord as her native land to enrich the cultural tapestry of the Vastayans, who typically inhabit Ionia in large numbers.
The designers shared that they drew ideas for Aurora’s character from neurodiversity. Although the Runeterra universe isn’t advanced in terms of mental health, psychiatry, or psychology, the team imagined Aurora as having autistic traits.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed a significant shift in the character’s design. In the early stages, she was dressed in plain, almost frumpy witch robes that seemed to exude a cold, practical vibe. But as we approached the final version, things took a surprising turn. Instead of the modest attire, she now sports bare thighs and shoulders, making her look more sensual and alluring.
The LoL design team is thrilled that Aurora, long-envisioned, is now being introduced into the game.
Ability rundown
Aurora is similar to mages such as Ahri or Gwen during the early stages of lane play. Her strategy revolves around executing powerful, brief attacks. She makes up for her relatively weak defenses and average range by employing her agility and self-sustaining abilities.
Like almost all LoL champs, Aurora has a passive, three basic abilities, and an ultimate:
- Passive – Spirit Abjuration: Aurora’s spells and attacks exorcise spirits from the enemies she damages. Exorcised spirits follow Aurora around, healing her and granting her bonus movement speed.
- Q – Twofold Hex: Aurora sends out a missile that curses any enemies it hits. She can then recast the ability to draw active curses back toward herself, damaging foes who are hit along the way.
- W – Across the Veil: Aurora leaps in a direction of her choosing, entering the spirit realm upon landing and becoming invisible for a short duration of time.
- E – The Weirding: Aurora unlocks a window to the spirit realm, sending out a blast of spirit magic that damages and slows enemies before Aurora hops backward to safety.
- R – Between Worlds: Aurora leaps in a direction of her choosing, releasing a shockwave that damages and slows any enemies it hits. Afterward, she creates an area that traps enemies within it and allows Aurora to teleport from one side of the area to the other.
As a gamer, I frequently use Electrocute as one of my go-to runes. The recent adjustment reducing its cooldown down fits perfectly with my fast-paced trading gameplay style.
Top laners benefit greatly from the use of Fleet Footwork as it enables them to maintain a consistent and safer encounter versus tank champions.
She prefers to have Rod of Ages and Liandry’s Torment as her core items.
