A popular Nintendo Switch 2 bundle is apparently being stopped. Nintendo launched its new console at a difficult time, as both PlayStation and Xbox were increasing their prices. Nintendo announced the Switch 2’s price right before new tariffs from President Trump were announced, forcing them to reconsider their plans. While things ultimately worked out, many were surprised the Switch 2 cost significantly more than the original model.
The new Switch 2 costs $450, which is $150 more expensive than the original model. Accessories are also quite pricey, and some games, like Mario Kart World, are surprisingly expensive at $79.99 – a price point rarely seen for standard video games. This raised concerns that other companies might also start charging $80 for games. While Xbox tried this, it didn’t go well and appeared to discourage others from following suit.
Nintendo Switch 2’s Mario Kart World Bundle Gets Discontinued
Nintendo offered an attractive deal alongside the launch of the Switch 2: a console bundled with a copy of Mario Kart World for $499.99. This saved players $30 on the game, which many Switch 2 buyers were planning to purchase anyway. Mario Kart World was the biggest and most popular game available for the new console, and the bundle has been consistently available throughout the year, especially during the holidays. However, this offer won’t last much longer.
A recent memo to GameStop stores (shared by Nintendeal) reveals that the Nintendo Switch 2 bundle including Mario Kart World is no longer available for order. New consoles will be sold as the base model for $449.99. However, any remaining bundles in stock will still be sold, making now a great time to buy one if you’ve been waiting. Best Buy is currently offering the Nintendo Switch 2 with the game included for the same price, $449.99, meaning you get the game for free. It’s a fantastic offer and could be a good last-minute Christmas gift if you can find one.
GameStop has stopped producing the Mario Kart World bundle for the Nintendo Switch 2. An internal memo confirms that no more bundles will be made, and future Switch 2 consoles will be sold separately.
