As a huge fan of Timothee Chalamet and his remarkable acting abilities, I’m beyond excited to see him take on the challenge of portraying the enigmatic figure of Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown.” His transformation into the folk singer with the distinctive look is impressive, and if his previous Oscar nomination for “Call Me By Your Name” is any indication, this role could very well earn him another nod.
Transforming the young and handsome Timothee Chalamet into the rough-looking singer Bob Dylan was a significant challenge for the makeup team. However, this role could potentially earn him an Oscar, given his previous nomination for “Call Me By Your Name.” In the trailer for “A Complete Unknown,” Chalamet convincingly portrays Dylan’s distinctive appearance, despite his natural good looks resembling more those of a graceful monkey rummaging through gravel.
In the vibrant music world of 1960s New York, the story unfolds about a 19-year-old musician named BOB DYLAN, hailing from Minnesota (portrayed by Timothée Chalamet). His journey to fame is meteoric as he rises from obscurity to performing in grand concert halls and reaching the top of music charts. The world falls in love with his songs and enigmatic persona, leading to international sensation. Culminating at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, BOB DYLAN makes history with his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance.
James Mangold, who has been nominated for an Academy Award and BAFTA, directs this film. The cast includes Chalamet and Edward Norton, both of whom have received Academy Award and BAFTA nominations (for “Call Me By Your Name” and “Fight Club,” “Birdman” respectively). Additionally featured are Elle Fanning (“The Great,” “Maleficent”), Monica Barbaro (“Top Gun: Maverick”), Boyd Holbrook (“Logan,” “The Bikeriders”), Dan Fogler (“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” “The Walking Dead”), Norbert Leo Butz (“Dan in Real Life”), and Scoot McNairy (“Argo,” “12 Years a Slave”).
The film will be released in UK and Ireland cinemas in January 2025
